‘Today 2030’: South Summit 2023 will bring the future closer to the present in its 11th edition
South Summit, annual meeting co-organised with IE University has announced its 11th edition, which will take place from the 7th-9th June 2023 in La Nave in Madrid, and it will be celebrated under the motto ‘Today 2030’ with the institutional support of the State Secretariat for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council. A new claim that the main meeting point and connection point for key players in the global entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem aims to open a window into the future for today’s entrepreneurs and investors to learn about upcoming trends. and the way forward for the world's most innovative entrepreneurs.
“We chose the motto ‘Today 2030’ because we are certain that the future is going to be bright, despite the uncertainties that we are facing at the moment. Compared to the crisis that we lived in in 2012 when we started, we now have a powerful entrepreneurial ecosystem and with some very creative entrepreneurs, capable of creating large innovation projects to design a better future”, highlighted María Benjumea, founder and CEO of South Summit, at the South Summit 2023 launch event held in Madrid.
‘Today 2030’ also summarises the upcoming challenges that the entrepreneurial ecosystem must face. As society as a whole, sustainability, inclusion and equality are the three basic pillars that will govern the eleventh edition of South Summit. In particular, sustainability and respect for the environment will be of great importance at the next South Summit “Thanks to our entrepreneurs, I am convinced that in 2030 we can reach our goal of reducing the emission of greenhouse gases by 55%” says Benjumea.
South Summit Madrid 2023 will bring together, as in each edition, the most innovative and disruptive start-ups from around the world, who will present their projects and models of innovation and business to investors and corporations from all sectors.
After 10 years, South Summit has consolidated itself as a leading meeting point for the entrepreneurial ecosystem and innovation at a global level, as well as being one of the best platforms for those projects that want to make themselves known. South Summit 2023 will grant a special place to the winners of the Start-up Competition, which is chosen each year out of the 100 most disruptive start-ups in the world. The entrepreneurs that are interested in participating will be able to sign up until 15th February 2023, through the South Summit website.
“Six of the seven Spanish unicorns (three from Madrid and three from Barcelona) happened because of South Summit and through the Start-up Competition. We must continue betting on this competition that makes our talent known because when we started in 2012, Spain was not an important figure in the global ecosystem and now it is the origin of great unicorns”, emphasised Benjumea.
The 2022 edition of South Summit managed to meet the Spanish and global entrepreneurial ecosystem together in person: 40% of the attendees were start-ups 30% were corporations and 12% were investors. Over the three days of celebration by La Nave there were more than 220 investment funds (72% international) with a portfolio of 250,000 million dollars and more than 1,66,423 connections were organised.
