South Summit Madrid 2023 bets on the latest innovations in aerospace technology with new Spacetech track

South Summit Madrid 2023, the leading event for the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem, co-organised by IE University, will celebrate its 11th edition between 7-9th June at La Nave in Madrid with its main new feature being content and conversations dedicated to analysing the latest trends in Spacetech, i.e., everything related to aerospace technology research

This new track, made in collaboration with Arribes, will bring the world's leading experts in aerospace research and innovation to the stages of South Summit Madrid 2023. The objective: to spark and engage in a conversation on the latest developments in the aerospace industry, including the latest technologies, the business models of aerospace companies, and the innovations that are transforming the way mankind relates to space

Some renowned speakers in this sector gathering at South Summit Madrid 2023 are Estelle Godard from the aerospace project investment company Promus Ventures; Francisco Inglés, co-founder of OBUU; Jacqueline Davidson, Programme Director at Aerospace Xelerated; Luca del Monte, Director of the Commercial Department at ESA (European Space Agency); Inmaculada Serrano Gandía, CTO New Space at Indra; Luis Martín and Noelia Sánchez-Ortiz, co-founders of Arribes; Miguel Ángel Carrera, founder and CEO of AVS; Miguel Belló Mora, commissioner for the Aerospace PERTE at the Ministry of Science and Innovation, and Oliver Huez, partner of Red River West.

Space technology startup competition

The positive macroeconomic outlook for the space sector, the expected strong growth, both at institutional and corporate levels, and the continued development of new technologies will lead to a substantial increase in investment in space technology development and could make it a major economic player.

In addition, space technology is key to one of the most relevant challenges facing society and therefore entrepreneurs: sustainability. Satellite observations can be used to monitor the impact of human activities on the earth's environment, such as deforestation, climate change, and pollution.

Nonetheless, South Summit has, for the first time, a competition for startups related to space technology. The participants of this first edition will be FOSSA Systems (Spain), Imageryst (United States), Kreios Space S.L. (Spain), Latitudo40 S.L (Italy), Linking Drones (Spain), WASP Aircraft (Russia) and Wegaw SA (Switzerland).

These startups will have the opportunity to present their projects to the world and, especially, to top-level investors.

‘Today 2030’

Under the slogan 'Today 2030', South Summit Madrid 2023 will host an important line-up of national and international speakers, including Pablo Isla, President of the International Board of Trustees of IE University; Andrew Winston, manager of Winston Eco-Strategies, Pau Gasol, former elite athlete and Jenny Fielding, co-founder of The Fund VC.
