The opening of South Summit Korea 2024
South Summit Korea, the leading event for the verticalised entrepreneurial ecosystem in AI and Deep Tech, co-organised by IE University in collaboration with the Gyeonggi Provincial Government and GBSA (Gyeonggido Business & Science Accelerator), has inaugurated its first edition today in Suwon (Gyeonggi-Do province). "Today marks a new chapter for entrepreneurs and innovators, as South Summit and South Korea will form the perfect partnership to continue connecting ecosystems from around the world," said María Benjumea, president and founder of South Summit, at the opening of the event.
At the opening ceremony of #SouthSummitKorea24 Diego del Alcázar Benjumea, CEO of IE University, also spoke out, highlighting how "South Summit is expanding globally. Today we inaugurate the first of many editions in Asia and we are sure that this will bring significant benefits to innovation and entrepreneurship across the entire continent."
The first day of South Summit Korea 2024 was headlined by Eric Sim, author of the book 'Small Actions: Leading Your Career To Big Success' who, along with Diego del Alcázar, shared key insights to helping students become entrepreneurs.
Other notable figures from the first day included Dongok Riso Ahn, CEO of The Garrison, and Stella Yoh, director at Orbital Startups, who discussed with Nacho Mateo, CEO of South Summit, how startup founders can effectively scale their projects.
In its first edition, South Summit Korea 2024 will bring together from today until September 27 more than 80 world experts in Artificial Intelligence and Deep Tech such as Ryo Kawashima, 'Deputy Director' of the Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry of Japan, or Yongmin Cho, CIO of Undbound Lab and former executive at Google, Accenture, IBM or Samsung.
Additionally, during the day of #SouthSummitKorea24 The winning candidate of the Startup Competition will be announced, which will be recognised as the best startup in the fields of Deep Tech and Artificial Intelligence. Among the finalists are two Spanish startups: ClassInTheBox, a Madrid-based startup that creates digital content aimed at improving user interaction, and Aima Beyond, a Catalan startup that has developed an AI designed to act as companion for people living in solitude and vulnerbale situations.
