Lotus at CES 2025

At CES 2025, Paige West, Startups Magazine’s Managing Editor, interviewed Dhaval Patel, CEO of Lotus.

Patel founded Lotus in 2021, developing the Lotus Ring, a wearable device that enables users to control home appliances – such as lights, fans, and televisions – through simple point-and-click gestures. Unlike traditional smart home systems, the Lotus Ring operates without the need for rewiring, apps, or an internet connection, as it utilises infrared technology to interact with devices.

The Lotus Ring is a lightweight, waterproof ring worn on the index finger, featuring a single button and an infrared band. The ring communicates with devices via infrared signals, similar to a traditional TV remote.

The inspiration for Lotus stemmed from Patel's personal experiences with limited mobility, motivating him to create a solution that enhances accessibility and independence for individuals with disabilities.
