Brazil welcomes Global innovation leaders at the IoT Solutions Congress 2025
On September 3rd and 4th, São Paulo will host the second edition of the IoT Solutions Congress Brazil. Organised by iCities, a pioneering hub for smart cities, with the support of the São Paulo City Hall and under the endorsement of Fira Barcelona, the event reinforces Brazil’s position as an emerging global centre for discussions on the Internet of Things (IoT), connectivity and digital transformation.
By bringing together companies, governments and global visionaries, the event provides a strategic space for knowledge exchange, business generation and the presentation of technological solutions that are already shaping the future.
Featuring both national and international speakers, one of the highlights of the event is Negar Feher, CEO of Orbital Outpost X, a Silicon Valley startup developing modular and autonomous solutions for space infrastructure. With over two decades of experience in the aerospace sector, Feher is known for guiding startups from R&D phases to full commercial operations and is also an outspoken advocate for diversity and inclusion in the space industry. In her keynote “The Future of Space Infrastructure,” she will explore how the Internet of Things connects to this ecosystem, including satellites, stations, launch vehicles and habitable modules that support activity in space.
Another international guest is Patrick James, technical artist and researcher at the renowned Pixar Animation Studios, with expertise in interactive and visual technologies for creative production. At the congress, he will discuss the interface between IoT and innovation in entertainment and digital design contexts, as well as the role of failure in powering innovation. Drawing from decades of experience at Pixar and contributions to over 60 productions, Patrick will reveal behind-the-scenes insights into discarded storylines and technical challenges that ultimately became groundbreaking narrative solutions, highlighting how mistakes can strengthen creative teams and lead to revolutionary ideas.
Ricky Burns, Technology Manager for BP’s leading production region in the Gulf of Mexico, responsible for one of Brazil’s largest oil discoveries in recent years, will also headline as a keynote speaker. With an extensive career in the energy industry, Burns will discuss how to integrate emerging technologies such as AI and IoT into legacy systems, unlocking value from existing infrastructure. His session will share BP’s digital transformation journey and offer practical strategies for bridging past and future, safeguarding previous investments while laying a solid foundation for innovation.
Other confirmed speakers include Letícia Maria Paz Lima, researcher at the Brazilian Quantum Institute; Jayme Garcia Arnal Barbedo, a leading figure in digital agriculture at Embrapa; and Xavier Pi, an industrial engineering expert from the Polytechnic University of Catalonia (UPC). Together, these and other guests underscore the Congress’s diversity of topics, spanning smart mobility, sustainability, innovation and connectivity in both urban and rural settings.
"At the IoT Solutions Congress Brazil 2025, we’re bringing together leaders, innovators and forward-thinkers from around the world to explore how the Internet of Things is transforming industries, cities and lives. This event is a must-attend for anyone looking to stay at the forefront of the digital revolution. With its diversity, talent and technological potential, Brazil is the ideal place to build this future together and it offers an unmatched setting to expand the event that in Barcelona has already hosted over 250 exhibitors” says Roger Bou Garriga, Director of Industrial Fairs at Fira de Barcelona.
Headquartered in Curitiba and active throughout Brazil, iCities plays a strategic role in identifying and bringing global smart city, Blue Economy, and IoT trends to the country.
"We’re living in a pivotal moment where technology has already become the driving force behind deep changes in economic, productive and social dynamics, especially in how we live and connect.” says Beto Marcelino, Chairman of the Board at iCities. “At this year’s IoT Solutions Congress, we want to show the power of connection to drive solutions that improve lives, empower regions and build a smarter and more human future.” he concludes.
