30-year old Ben Fowler launched Alternate Experiences in September 2019 with the aim of harnessing his love of games and gamification to provide experiences that provide more engaging and valuable experiences for businesses, employees and their customers.

In January 2021, Ben and his co-host and childhood friend, Zuki Majuqwana, launched the Let’s Play Business! podcast, which targets business leaders and professionals wanting to explore what can be learnt from games and applied to business. This was a natural fit after their childhood of playing online games together.

After studying Geography at the University of Southampton, Ben spent several years working as a Project Manager and Business Analyst across public, private and third sector organisations in London, Nottingham and Manchester. In 2018, Ben spent two years as a Project Manager on the Amplify business growth programme at The Growth Company, where he worked with digital, creative and tech businesses looking to scale.

Inspired by the businesses he came across in his business support roles, Ben was inspired to launch his own businesses, and a pivotal escape room experience proved the spark to consider using his experiences of games and gaming to bring new perspectives to business and the workplace.

Ben is passionate about the role games - from board games to multiplayer video games - can play in the workplace, from Monopoly Deal teaching us strategic thinking to Pac Man highlighting the importance of quick decision making.

To date, the Let’s Play Business! podcast has welcomed guests including Chris Rhodes, Operations Director, The Tech Dept; and Susanna Lawson, CEO and co-founder of OneFile; 2017’s Businesswoman of the Year.
