Zapp EV gains approval to launch i300 sales in Thailand

Zapp Electric Vehicles Group Limited, the British brand committed to transforming personal urban mobility, has announced that its operating subsidiaries have successfully completed homologation with Thailand’s Department of Land Transportation.

This approval paves the way for the sale of Zapp's i300 electric urban motorcycle in the Thai market, with first customer deliveries anticipated in the coming months.

Swin Chatsuwan, Founder and Chief Executive Officer of Zapp EV, said: “Vehicle homologation in Thailand is another important step forward for Zapp, which activates the commercial launch in our first Southeast Asian country. Thailand is one of the largest and most mature markets for two-wheelers in the region. An estimated 87% of households in the country owns at least one two-wheeler. And as a leader market, around half of consumers now purchase premium models similar to those bought by Europeans.

“We believe i300’s nine-time award-winning design and high performance makes it a perfect proposition for global markets that are already dominated by urban step-throughs, with consumers looking to switch to electric. We look forward to our first customer deliveries in Thailand and to further commercial launches in other key Southeast Asian countries like Indonesia and Vietnam. There are nearly 500 million two wheelers on the road in Southeast Asia and India, and these regions collectively comprise more than half of annual two-wheeler sales globally.”

Zapp EV, along with its operating subsidiaries, is led by a team of mobility industry veterans with a mission to revolutionise the electric two-wheeler market. Zapp’s first offering, the i300, is an urban electric two-wheeler that delivers the performance of a traditional motorcycle in a step-through design, blending practicality with excitement. The i300 is just the beginning of a planned lineup of high-performance electric two-wheelers from Zapp.

The company also aims to redefine the customer experience with its DSDTC (drop-ship-direct-to-customer) model. When customers order the i300 online, it will be delivered directly to their door by authorised “Zappers,” who will handle everything from at-home inspections to ongoing service and support, ensuring a seamless ownership experience.
