Startups and investors from around the world gather at Alpha Wolves

The owners of startups and scaleups from Central and Eastern Europe are meeting with investors from all around the world in Poland in April at Alpha Wolves - an exclusive, two-day forum run in a hybrid mode. This is the first such event in the CEE region to be held this year in Warsaw.

Poland will once again be the centre of the startup world

The startup market in CEE Europe is extremely dynamic and developing year by year, becoming a breeding ground for brillant ideas and startup shooting stars. Only in the last 5 years, 5466 startups participated at Wolves Summit (the flagship event for Alpha Wolves), which is its spin off addressed to more mature startups and scaleups). In this group, among others, there were such noticeable names as Huge (173,75M EUR and 368,96M EUR in IPO on Warsaw Stock Exchange on Feb 19, 2021), Sennder (286,55M EUR), Skeleton Technologies (169,47M EUR), MarketFinance (169,91M EUR), Veriff (166,71M EUR) and Brainly (129,32M EUR).

95% of the above mentioned 5466 Wolvesparticipants reached the finals of the Great Pitch Contest. 87% of them are still active today, having raised a cumulative amount of 232 million euro. Top 5 in terms of total raised are Naga Group (77,22M EUR), Refurbed (71,38M EUR), InvestSuite (10,30M EUR), HigoSense (8M EUR) and Parking Energy – 6,20M EUR.

Poland itself is known as a country supporting the development of technology and implementing the latest solutions in this field. A good example of them are cashless payments - it is here in Poland where they are very popular in comparison with European countries, and all this thanks to the widespread possibility of making such payments and the openness of Poles to technological innovations. After all, it was Poles who created BLIK - the number of transactions with the use of this tool exceeded the number of transactions carried out with the use of payment cards on the Internet in Poland, and all this within just a few years from the creation of BLIK!

So it is not surprising that the creators of the Alpha Wolves, a unique technology conference for startups, but most of all scaleups and investors, have decided to organise their event in Warsaw. On 7-8th April owners of startups and scaleups from Central and Eastern Europe, representatives of investment funds, managing directors and investors - over 450 participants in total - will meet in Warsaw. Among guests we will find investors from all over the world including Poland, e.g. Innoenergy, ff Venture Capital, Satus Starter, Sunfish VC, medVC, level2 VC and Hubraum. During this event, they will meet representatives of start-ups and scaleups from many industries, incl. financial, IT, health, and logistics.

The aim of the conference is, of course, for the companies and investors to meet, and thanks to this series of networking meetings and "match-making", to finally enter into cooperation, which will result in the creation of new products and technological services.

This is not the first such conference - the team responsible for the Alpha Wolves has been organising the Wolves Summit, a similar event focusing on startups, periodically since 2015. The Alpha Wolves is, however, a completely new conference that brings together scaleups, i.e. companies post first round of financing.

Why scaleups?

Events promoting startups from various industries are not a phenomenon, a conference for scaleups, however, or more "advanced" startups, is new - that's why the organisers of the Alpha Wolves decided to fill this niche and create a conference in a completely new format. The demand for this type of event is clearly noticeable - investors know that the scaleups participating in the Alpha Wolves are reliable. These are companies that have already achieved market success, obtain promising financial results and are looking for investors because they are planning a major expansion. The Alpha Wolves conference is therefore an attractive event for those investors who are looking for promising companies.

The choice of the region from which the scaleups participating in the Alpha Wolves come from is not without significance. It is in the countries of Central and Eastern Europe where the companies which, thanks to their participation in previous editions of the Wolves Summit (as startups) obtained financing and could develop, operate. Investors are aware of the attractiveness of this market and are therefore interested in participating in the Alpha Wolves. We give you 2 scaleups from Poland as examples: Salesbook and Share.P.

Salesbook at the service of sellers

In 2017, Salesbook appeared on the Polish market - a SaaS platform that supports and automates the work of sales representatives, increasing their efficiency by an average of 53%. It streamlines the entire direct selling process: from meeting the customer to hard analytical data and decision-making support. By introducing methodology, automation, and analytics to the classic sales approach, it changes its effectiveness to the level known from the e-commerce market. Salesbook is successfully operating in the energy, automotive and insurance markets. The app is used by over 50,000 sellers and managers from around the world, including companies such as OVB, Fortum, Unum, Energa, Edison and Votum. The company has also won numerous awards in the international arena, incl. UiPath Automation Award 2020 and Sales Innovation Expo Award 2020.

As emphasised by Dariusz Nawojczyk, CEO of Salesbook, his app meets the needs of sales departments in terms of strengthening the process of meeting with the client - standardising (which improves the experience of such a meeting) and verification on the managerial side. Previously, sellers most often used pen and paper, now they have a modern platform that helps to present the company, analyse customer needs, prepare a personalised offer, and finally sign a contract.

Currently, the company employs 40 people. Development would not be possible without the active search for investors interested in supporting application development. Salesbook participated in previous editions of the Wolves Summit, as a result of which the company managed to establish several fruitful business relationships, incl. Level2 Ventures fund and to increase their revenues (doubled last year). Salesbook operates in Poland, Germany, and Singapore, and in 2022 the company also intends to enter the US and UK markets.

Share.P as a response to the search for parking spots in cities

Finding a parking spot in the centre of a large city can be quite a challenge. Paid city car parks come to the rescue, but the founder of Share.P, Mateusz Wojdyło, went one step further and decided to enable the sharing of ... private parking spots with the help of his app.

- The idea to create Share.P came to answer a problem. I was visiting a friend in Zurich and needed to park my car for 3 days, unfortunately there was nothing available on the street near where my friend lived. I then asked him if I could park my car in the underground car park belonging to his building, which was half empty. Unfortunately, I found out that this was a problem because someone would have to come and sign the contract, which would not be profitable for a period of just a few days. It was then when I came up with something that would allow parking and sublet parking spots from owners for drivers in a fully automated way - says Wojdyło.

The app also allows you to rent a charging station for an electric car. As a result of meetings with hundreds of city managers, developers and drivers, Mateusz Wojdyło and his team created the Share.P application, which is used today by 17,000 users from 14 countries. The tool is available to drivers in Poland, Switzerland, and Liechtenstein, and starting from this year also in Great Britain and Austria. Like Salesbook, Share.P was also presented to investors during one of the Wolves Summit editions, and now, as a scaleup, the company will join the Alpha Wolves.

- The participation in the Wolves Summit helped us understand the needs of investors and how to talk to them. I will say from my own experience that during the "Wolves" even the shyest entrepreneur will have a chance to talk to dozens of investors. It is an invaluable experience because it allows you to understand what is important to them and how to best present your project. Many investors talk about product scaling or expansion, but not all really understand it. In my opinion, those who come to the Wolves Summit are a kind of elite in the field of investing - says Mateusz Wojdyło, CEO of Share.P.

Scaleups from Poland and Central and Eastern Europe will meet in Warsaw at the Alpha Wolves

Nawojczyk and Wojdyło, as leaders of dynamically developing scaleups, agree on the impact of events such as the Alpha Wolves on the technology and startup market. Their companies started out as start-ups, and in April they will join the Alpha Wolves.

- For me, the Alpha Wolves is a unique opportunity to meet investors from the region and the world in a very short time, all in one place. In my opinion, the mere participation in the event is a kind of win - emphasises Mateusz Wojdyło, Share P.

On the other hand, Dariusz Nawojczyk, Salesbook, points to two more aspects - knowledge and the opportunity to present your company to investors from around the world:

- This is a chance to gain knowledge based on the experience of other people. What is better than not making a mistake someone else has already made? With an open mind, everyone who is developing their business can quickly complete their knowledge in this area. The participation in the Alpha Wolves is also an image support, often a chance to even get noticed. This is especially true for startups that prepare themselves properly and are able to tell a coherent and captivating story.

The Alpha Wolves will be an exclusive forum run in a hybrid formula - the organisers expect about 450 participants, some of whom will take part in the online event, and some in the on-site one, at the Cambridge Innovation Center (CIC) in Warsaw.
