The startup Altered Carbon, the only british among the 50 finalist startups of South Summit Brazil 2024

South Summit Brazil 2024, co-organized by IE University  and the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, has announced the 50 finalist startups of the Startup Competition, selected from more than 2,000 startups submitted, in a process that has highlighted the quality and disruptive projects presented.

Coming from 16 different countries, 3 more than last year, the finalist startups will compete to be the most innovative project, between March 20 and 22, in the city of Porto Alegre. Regarding the origin of the startups, the number of Latin American countries represented has doubled from 7 to 15 in the last year, while the number of startups registered in the competition has grown by 144%. With these figures, South Summit Brazil 2024 consolidates its leadership as the most important global entrepreneurship meeting in LATAM.

Once again, Brazilian startups are  the most numerous among the 50 finalist candidates, representing almost 50% of them. United Kingdom, on the other hand, enters the final phase of South Summit Brazil 2024 with a startup, Altered Carbon. He has developed an advanced scent detection with a multi-array sensor using evolved graphene. AI analyzes scent signatures - digital fingerprints - enhancing accuracy.

The rest of the countries with finalist startups in this third edition are: Germany, Argentina, Chile, Colombia, United States, France, Israel, Luxembourg, Mexico, Portugal, United Kingdom, Singapore, Sweden and Uruguay.

The projects that will participate in the final phase of #SouthSummitBrazil24 have been chosen through a rigorous selection process. A committee of renowned investors and experts has been in charge of selecting these finalists based on well-defined criteria on innovation, viability, scalability, sustainability, human resources and interest for potential investors.

Under the slogan "Decoding Complexity", the third edition of the meeting in Brazil expects to bring together more than 140 funds and 1,000 international investors, along with top-level speakers such as: Uri Levine, co-founder of Waze and Moovit; Paula Ganem, regional head of capital markets for Canada and Latin America at the New York Stock Exchange; Martín Umaran, co-founder and president of Globant in EMEA, and Luana Ozemela, vice president of social impact at iFood.

The last edition  of South Summit Brazil, the second to be held, brought together  more than 22,000 attendees, 3,000 entrepreneurs, 900 speakers and more than a hundred investment funds (30 of them international), as well as 600 investors with a portfolio of 123,000 million dollars and 19,000 million destined for investment in the Latin American entrepreneurial ecosystem.
