'Spathios' becomes first Spanish hourly rental marketplace to go international
Spathios is an online marketplace that connects professionals and businesses with great creative spaces. The startup provides its users access to locations for events, meetings and filming studios via its online booking marketplace. Founded by Pol Hevia and Joaquim Tresserra in Barcelona, the startup has now more than 2,500 spaces across Spain and 400 in London.
Born in the midst of a pandemic and designed as a response to the shift in workplace culture, this startup has exceeded its expectations, as they continue to grow by +700% between January and September of this year.
Companies like Amazon, Sony Music and Netflix are already using Spathios to book new and fresh venues for their film shoots and meetings.
Spathios allows property owners to generate income from their homes, offices, and spaces – which would otherwise remain empty or underutilized, becoming Hosts on their platform. “Being a Spathios Host is very easy, I forget about all the tedious paperwork and if I have any problem, Spathios solves it right away! Undoubtedly the best option to make your property profitable.” Says Svetlana, host since 2021.
For guests, Spathios eliminates the need for intermediaries, removing booking negotiations and paperwork with their customer support team, and providing guidance during each booking process. “We are a production company and we constantly need locations. We booked once with Spathios and now we use them for every project! They make management easier and they provide us with all kinds of new and fresh locations without having to worry about any management.” says Oliver Stone, Location Manager.
What 's next?
Spathios plans to use the additional funds to expand to several key markets throughout Europe in the coming months. "Our goal is to put out our technology throughout Europe in the next 2 years. We’re tailoring our product to the needs of businesses, and it’s proving to be a game changer in planning & booking venues", says Pol Hevia, CEO of the company.
Innovation at its forefront, he insists on new tools to keep improving continuously. “We are the first venue–booking marketplace to develop a collaborative workspace for companies to work towards their events among multiple stakeholders. We are on a mission to digitize the whole industry, which is using none or outdated technologies.’’
What 's new?
With companies like Warner Bros, Amazon or Nike booking locations through Spathios, they launched a service specially designed for businesses managing space booking for events, meetings, and local film shoots.
Spathios for Business provides an Account Manager, which covers the needs of companies by offering personalized monitoring. Simplifying expense and budget with multi-user accounts and centralized invoicing saving time.
Also, at Spathios, a big differentiator from other space rental platforms is their Matterport technology. Available by subscription, the spaces can showcase a 3D tour of their space on their profile, which allows a clear and visual representation of their space. According to a study by Spathios, spaces with the 3D tour subscription are booked 31% faster than those that don’t have the service. "We are convinced that this will greatly increase the conversion ratio in our spaces since the client has a better understanding of the space he or she is booking" explains Hevia.
