South Summit Brazil 2024 extends registration for its Startup Competition until January 12th

South Summit Brazil 2024, the leading meeting of the global entrepreneurship and innovation ecosystem co-organized by IE University and the Government of the State of Rio Grande do Sul, will extend the registration period for its Startup Competition until January 12th. In this third edition, the 50 finalist startups will be chosen and will compete to be the most innovative project.

The winners of the Startup Competition will be announced during the course of South Summit Brazil 2024, which will be held between March 20th and 22nd in the city of Porto Alegre, and will be divided into the categories of overall winning startup, Most Sustainable startup, Most Scalable startup, Most Innovative startup, and startup with Best Team. 

In the last edition, more than 2,000 startups from 86 different countries registered and the winning projects were: the Spanish startup Airway Shield  (Global Winner South Summit Brazil 2023), Bankuish  (most innovative), Trashin (best team), Alana AI  (most scalable) and Incentiv (most sustainable).

After registering, startups will go through a strict selection process led by a committee of experts who will base their choice on criteria such as innovation, scalability, feasibility, sustainability and the team of the candidate projects. The 50 finalist startups will have the opportunity to present their projects in person and will be able to access an exclusive network, with the possibility of one-to-one meetings with investors and corporations in search of innovation.

In addition, the program of this third edition already has the confirmation of the first 50 speakers. Among them, Paula Ganem, regional head of capital markets for Canada and Latin America at the New York Stock Exchange; Tânia Cosentino, president of Microsoft Brazil; Gabriela Comazzetto, general manager of TikTok's Global Business Solutions for Latin America, and Luana Ozemela, vice president of social impact at iFood.

Founders of unicorns will also participate, such as Guilherme Pinho Bonifácio, co-founder of iFood; João Del Valle, CEO and co-founder of EBANX; Mate Pencz, CEO and co-founder of Loft; Sebastián Noguera; co-founder and president of the Colombian startup Habi, or Mikita Mikado, CEO and co-founder of the American startup PandaDoc.
All of them will #SouthSummitBrazil24 share their experience, ideas and points of view on the entrepreneurial ecosystem in conversations and keynotes structured around ten different themes: Fintech, Healthtech, Agrotech & Foodtech, Sustainability and ESG, Industry 5.0, Humanity, Innovation and Ecosystem, Sportstech, Climatetech and Intelligent Systems (AI), the last three new topics in this edition.

More than 140 funds and 1,000 international investors are expected to attend South Summit Brazil 2024. Among those confirmed are partners and directors of investment funds such as Upload, Igah Ventures, Astella, GFC, ONEVC, Endeavor Catalyst, DNA Capital, Lightrock, Iporanga, Valor, Quona, Norte, EB Capital, Volpe, Picus Capital, or Headline, among others.

The second edition of South Summit Brazil, held in March of this year in Porto Alegre, brought together more than 22,000 attendees, 3,000 entrepreneurs, 900 speakers and more than a hundred investment funds (30 of them international), as well as 600 investors with a portfolio of 123,000 million dollars and 19,000 million destined for investment in the Latin American entrepreneurial ecosystem. These figures have made South Summit Brazil one of the main hubs of the innovation ecosystem, in addition to bringing together in the same space profiles such as CVCs (Corporate Venture Capital), VCs (Venture Capital) and PE (Private Equity).
