Ready for take off: the journey to market
Startups Magazine is excited to announce our much-anticipated ‘Ready for take off: the journey to market’ networking event! Taking place at Small Business Research + Enterprise Centre, London, on the 25th January at 6pm, we will be bringing you an event full of insights on production and prototyping.
Keynote Speaker
Our keynote speaker for this event is Dr Euan Smith, Managing Consultant and Head of Systems and Photonics at 42 Technology, a product development and manufacturing innovation consultancy based near Cambridge.
Euan is a technology obsessive who has over 25 years’ experience in commercially-facing product and technology development, spanning both deep-tech and software. Prior to 42T he worked for many years in the Cambridge start-up scene including 10 years with Cambridge Display Technology, the first ever spin-out from the University of Cambridge to go public.
Startup Panel
The startup panel will feature some exciting startups, hand-picked by the Startups Magazine team.
The first panellist is Varun Bhanot, the CEO and Co-Founder of MAGIC AI, the UK’s first AI personal trainer. An A-list of British celebrity athletes and sports stars appear as a hologram inside MAGIC’s AI wall mirror and coach via its proprietary ReflectAI tracking technology. The smart AI Mirror tracks your form, gives live feedback, and counts your reps all in real-time as you follow a world-class athlete coaching you 1 on 1.
Next up on the panel is Dr Sandy Enoch, CEO and Founder of Robotical. Enoch has always been into robotics and technology, completing a PhD in Robotics and not too long after, set up Robotical. His main inspiration for Marty the Robot was his niece, who was around six years old at the time. Enoch wanted to create a human-like robot, full of character, that she could use to make learning the basics of coding more like child’s play and less like hard work. So, putting his skills to use, he designed and built Marty V1 from scratch.
Dr Nickolai Vysokov is another one of our panellists. Dr Nickolai is a neuroscientist, entrepreneur and a public speaker on the subject of neurotechnology. He is a co-founder of BrainPatch.AI, a company creating non-invasive, yet effective brain stimulation for mental wellbeing. The e-meditation device looks like a normal set of headphones. However, this patented neurotechnology solution delivers a meditative, quickly calming, and stress-relieving state of mind by sending small, non-invasive electrical currents to the brain, via the skin behind the ear.
Next on the panel is Cheyenne Powell, an aspiring entrepreneur and PhD Researcher at the University of Strathclyde, focusing on Explainable AI (XAI) for spacecraft scheduling. Shifting from a background in Electrical Controls Engineering, with over 7 years’ experience, to an MSc in Astronautics, developing a microalgal photobioreactor for deep space missions, she is determined to contribute to space advancement. Her research targets a universal XAI solution for autonomous systems, benefiting space operations by offering transparency in decision-making. This technology has broad applications, enhancing mission planning, ground-station operations, and onboard systems, drawing the attention of NASA, ESA, CNES, and commercial organisations. Cheyenne will be launching her services of XAI solutions in July 2024.
Our final panellist is Charlotte Slinsgby, Co-Founder of Nettoken. Nettoken is a London-based startup developing a multi-generational password manager fit for families. Founded with the mission to make cybersecurity less intimidating and accessible for the household, Nettoken has evolved from a master's student project in Innovation Design Engineering at Imperial College to a live product supported by the likes of NCSC for startups and the Royal College of Art.
