National HealthTech Series: AI Integration into the UK’s NHS and Private Health Systems Brings a Combination of Risk and Reward
The integration of artificial intelligence (AI) solutions into front-line healthcare services in the UK is set to grow exponentially over the next decade, providing opportunities for faster, more accurate diagnosis and treatment. However, risks exist and there are concerns around patient data management, according to an expert group in Leeds.
The National HealthTech Series exists as a group of events bringing together experts in the health technology field to review the critical issues affecting healthcare delivery in the UK. This special event, the first in a three-part series across the UK, is set to discuss these challenging topics in Leeds on 6 November.
“The potential for AI in healthcare is immense, yet its integration demands a thoughtful, inclusive approach,” said event speaker Madhur Srivastava, Chief Executive Officer, DocHQ, a healthtech platform which supports system integration and staff wellbeing.
“Instead of merely adapting AI to existing pathways, we advocate for the co-creation of new, optimised processes that involve clinicians, management, and—most importantly—patients and their advocates.
This collaborative approach ensures that AI doesn’t just automate, but innovates, fostering improvements in patient care that are both meaningful and cost-effective. At DocHQ, our commitment extends beyond mere technology deployment; we prioritise enhancing the human element in healthcare. By developing technologies like PhysioAI in partnership with all stakeholders, we ensure transparency, compliance, and superior standards in patient care.”
The Leeds event, supported by the NIHR HealthTech Research Centre for Accelerated Surgical Care and DocHQ hosted at GBS powered by Empact Ventures. It will focus on wider topics including health services capacity building, sustainability in healthcare, MSK, mental health and wellbeing, and a forward look at additional technologies destined to make an impact over the next decade.
“The National HealthTech Series by Empact Ventures provides an excellent platform for GBS to engage with healthcare professionals, startups, and innovators,” said Dr David Bozward, Director of Employability and Entrepreneurship, Global Business School (GBS).
“By participating in these events, GBS can connect with key stakeholders, explore the latest advancements in healthcare technology, and foster partnerships. These opportunities can help GBS students and professionals gain insights into AI, surgery, and healthcare sustainability, positioning them to contribute to solving healthcare challenges.
