Beko cybersecurity spin-out CyberWhiz establishes UK office

CyberWhiz, a team of experts in embedded, mobile, and cloud cybersecurity has set up a UK office in Cheltenham, UK.

The company offers a range of proven hardware and software security products and services based on decades of in-house experience at Beko, a domestic appliances manufacturer and part of Arçelik A.Ş., based in Turkey. CyberWhiz customers can choose to completely outsource all cybersecurity hardware, software and services, or buy products and services that integrate with existing in-house resources.

CyberWhiz is focused on three main areas of cybersecurity: Edge, mobile, and Cloud.

Embedded device software security design is offered for any MCU or MPU. The company is a Microchip Authorised Design Partner, and its offerings include secure bootloader design, host intrusion detection algorithms, provisioning services design, software bill-of-materials (SBOM) design, and post-quantum cryptography (PQC) integration for edge-to-cloud communication. Edge devices can be secured in vehicles, home appliances, EV chargers, utility meters, and medical or military devices. Security can be designed to meet Common Criteria and Arm PSA Level-1 certification.

For mobile applications, security libraries are available for any iOS or Android mobile application, making it fast and easy to comply with OWASP Mobile Top 10 security principles. CyberWhiz offers mobile monitoring and protection, periodic penetration test support, post-quantum cryptography (PQC) integration for mobile-to-cloud communication, and end-to-end vulnerability analysis. CyberWhiz Mobile security has been used in more than 100 countries over several years.

Cloud services security design is provided for AWS, Azure, GCP, and others, and the company also assists with on-premises security design and best practice implementation. With the help of the cloud-based CyberWhiz Defence Centre, it is possible to monitor the cyber state of any edge device or mobile application continuously.

CyberWhiz is currently setting up the first AI-driven IoT Cyber Defence Centre, based on anonymous data gathered from the networks it monitors and controls. Using this, customers will be able to monitor cybersecurity for edge devices, mobile applications and cloud applications 24/7. It will help organisations achieve compliance with regulations like UNECE R155&R156, ETSI EN 303645, PSTI and Cyber Resilience Act.

The new UK operation is run by CyberWhiz CEO, Çağatay Büyüktopçu, who said: "The UK is one of the most advanced in understanding and implementing cybersecurity for device networks, so it was a natural place to start our new venture. We've worked closely with the IoTSF for several years, creating partnerships within its ecosystem and helping Beko to become the first white goods company in the world to receive a ‘Silver level’ certification in the IASME product cyber security assessment in the UK. That was followed by full ETSI EN303645 compatibility in 2023. In 2024 the UK was the first to mandate cybersecurity standards for IoT devices, which form part of the Product Security and Telecommunications Infrastructure (PSTI) Act. The UK environment has therefore become the most attractive place to market our products and services.”

UK business development will be headed by experienced semiconductor and cybersecurity specialist, Wayne Godwin.
