N-ink wins Voima Ventures’ science challenge and secures a €1M investment

N-ink, a Swedish deep technology firm, has been named the winner of a science challenge organised by Voima Ventures, an early-stage investor from Helsinki and Stockholm.

The challenge was aimed at Nordic and Baltic startups and research teams with innovative science-based projects. N-ink's victory in the challenge results in a €1M investment from Voima Ventures in the form of a convertible note.

Founded in 2020 by scientists from the Laboratory of Organic Electronics at Linköping University in Sweden, N-ink specialises in developing high-performance, scalable conductive polymers. These polymers are designed to enhance the performance of batteries and solar cells, contributing to the electrification of the future.

Johannes Bintinger, Co-Founder and CEO of N-ink, stated: "We are extremely happy and honoured to win this contest, but the most significant contest of all is against climate change. N-ink is not just shaping the future of printed electronics; we are rewriting the rules of sustainability and innovation.”

Inka Mero, Founding Partner of Voima Ventures, commented: “We are thrilled to back N-ink in their journey to the next stage. N-ink demonstrates the deep scientific and research foundation of the Nordic region combined with a unique innovation, big market opportunity, and ambitious team. Disruptive in many ways, N-ink builds a truly positive impact on the future of the whole planet. Voima Ventures looks forward to supporting the team for the years to come.”

Tero Ojanperä, Contest Jury member and Co-founder and Chairman of Silo.AI, said: “N-ink’s solution is a breakthrough built on the sustainable rulebook.”

Voima Ventures initiated the challenge to support pre-seed and seed-stage science-based startups in the Nordic and Baltic regions, aiming to foster the transformation of innovative ideas into global businesses and assist in scaling solutions from the lab to global companies. Out of a hundred applicants, eight teams were chosen for the final round, judged by a panel of leading investors and industry experts, including Marta Sjögren of Paebbl, Nils Bottler of Angelini Ventures, Tero Ojanperä of Silo.AI, and Professor Sabrina Maniscalco of Algorithmiqm.

Inka Mero added: “All the finalist teams demonstrated remarkable expertise, vision, and commitment to addressing critical global challenges. Harnessing the power of science-driven entrepreneurship is the quickest way to tackle urgent global problems. We’re pleased to see the Nordic and Baltic science-based innovation teams being at the forefront, as demonstrated by the visionary, forward-looking teams that participated in the challenge. With our third fund's impact focus, we are supporting technology and science-based companies who will form the backbone of the Nordic and Baltic regions’ economic growth and talent attraction.”
