Investment sees MyoMaster set out to become leading sports recovery brand

UK Sports recovery company MyoMaster has raised £350,000 in its first round of seed funding - with investment from former England Rugby Captain Chris Robshaw and Triathlete Ruth Astle. With the goal to make elite level recovery accessible for every athlete (no matter what their level or sport), MyoMaster is on a mission to help everyone prevent injury, boost performance, and unleash their full potential by harnessing the power of recovery.

Founded by professional rugby player Joe Gray and ad executive Lottie Whyte, MyoMaster wants to close the gap in access to high grade recovery technology in the mainstream fitness market through a range of accessible cutting-edge tools and education. By bringing elite level recovery to the hands of everyone they aim to become the biggest sports recovery brand in the world.

MyoMaster launched in 2019 and is the fastest growing sports recovery brand in the UK, growing 200% YoY. Their game changing recovery technology utilises scientifically proven methods including percussion, compression, and EMS to accelerate recovery, reduce pain and improve performance. MyoMaster have established partnerships with Chelsea FC, England Rugby, London Triathlon, Spartan, Under Armour and The Turf Games. Later this month they will announce their newest partnership, a first of its kind in sports recovery, with a Premiership Rugby team. MyoMaster have also amassed an impressive group of Athlete Ambassadors including England Rugby players Marcus Smith and Danny Care, Olympian Alex Yee, Tom and Luke Stoltman – the world’s strongest brothers - amongst others.

MyoMaster co-founder Lottie Whyte said: “The sports technology market is expected to reach $31B by 2024 and behind fan engagement, athletic performance tech is expected to be among the fastest-growing sectors. We are thrilled to be at the forefront of this. As more and more people commit to fitness the need for recovery becomes greater. By creating professional grade recovery tools, at the most affordable market price, we are empowering people to train harder, recover faster and improve their performance - whatever their sport.”

This latest investment will help MyoMaster build upon its position as a leading force in the sports recovery market through:

  • Key hires and product development: A significant part of the investment will go into growing the product development team at MyoMaster. New senior hires will be brought in to build out the MyoMaster product offering which includes new gym recovery hubs, recovery creams and the MyoMaster Recovery App - all launching in 2022.
  • Global Expansion: This investment will help MyoMaster expand into select European markets, Canada and the USA.
  • Retail: The investment will help MyoMaster open its first physical space at Westfield London on 6th December 2021, a first of its kind in recovery retail in the UK.
  • Education: MyoMaster will also be launching a new community focused education programme with the aim to educate everyone who trains on how they should recover their bodies, properly.

Chris Robshaw, professional rugby player and former England Rugby Captain who has invested in MyoMaster and joined the MyoMaster board brings a wealth of insight and expertise to the table. Robshaw said: “It is exciting to see athletes like Joe and Lottie bring their understanding and passion for recovery to life through their exceptional recovery technologies. Having used the product, myself for the past 12 months and experienced firsthand the multitude of benefits they offer I was excited at the opportunity to invest and help them grow further. The quality and array of existing products and new products in development is world class.  All of which are driven by athlete and market understanding, consumer insight and pioneering scientific and technological research. To bring elite level recovery to the everyday athlete at the most affordable price is game changing.”

Joe Gray co-founder of MyoMaster said: “MyoMaster was born out of a genuine need. As a professional rugby player, the first MyoMaster prototype was developed to treat my own injuries. The evolution since then has been incredible. Having my teammates alongside me, trying, and testing as we develop the best iterations has allowed us to create products which are finely tuned to the genuine needs of athletes. By bringing the experience and knowledge of professional sport and physiotherapy to our products and customers I know we can make a huge impact.”

Lottie Whyte said: “This investment will allow us to grow our team, offering and reach. Which means we can help even more people understand the importance of recovery and improve their overall wellbeing and athletic performance. We're on a mission to be in every athlete's home, in every gym and at the end of every race. The strong growth we have experienced so far is testament to the difference our products make. Having incredible athletes invest like Chris and Ruth, and ambassadors like Marcus and Alex, who all swear by MyoMaster, is a brilliant showcase of the quality of our technology and products.”
