Bright new tech startups from University of Southampton unveiled

New startups from founders looking to change the landscape in healthcare, AI, and aerospace tech will get the chance to pitch to investors, mentors, and partners at the Future Worlds Demo Day on 11th June during London Tech Week.

Investors will hear from founders including those developing startups in healthcare tech driven by their own personal experiences, as well as an AI driven platform to support organisations with bid writing, founded by two young entrepreneurs who have already secured £250k of funding.

This year’s Future Worlds Cohort 25 are already making waves in the startup scene and as a result this will be the highest valuation Demo Day to date. This really is the chance for investors to get a first look at the newest emerging tech and to find startups at their early stages.

The startups pitching at this year’s Demo Day are:

  • Mytender.io from founders Samuel Aaron and Jamie Horsnell. An AI-driven bid writing platform making the creation of bids quicker, easier, and to a higher quality, winning public sector contractor’s bids efficiently
  • Brainalyze from founders, Sumeet Mahajan and George Devitt. A laser based blood test which aims to diagnose and differentiate early stage dementia in five minutes
  • Silatech from founders Alexandar Todorov, Georgi Pachov, and Plamen Dimitrov. A 24/7 contactless health monitoring device for the elderly, providing fall and early illness detection alerts for peace of mind and carer support
  • Droplet Scientific, from founders Junda Niu and Xize Niu. Wearable analysers for continuous, autonomous, real-time biomarker monitoring
  • Bloctopus (FKA LZero Analytics), from founders Til Jordan and Anisha Goel. A developer tool creating on-demand blockchain sandboxes
  • Eos Space Technology, from founders Szymon Dworski, Moe Ahmed, and Thomas Munro-O'Brien. Agile and cost-effective scalable spacecraft propulsion systems for longer mission lifespans

Dr Alice Iles, Head of Tech Acceleration for Future Worlds, said: “It’s always so exciting to be able to see the next generation of founders from the University of Southampton pitch their incredible ideas to investors and mentors, and this year will be our highest valuation Demo Day to date.

Founding a startup is an incredible achievement in itself and Cohort 25 had the highest number of applications and was stronger than ever. These six founders have impressed us and our experienced partners and mentees all the way through our Cohort process, so we are confident that attendees at this year’s Demo Day will be inspired by what they have to offer.”

The Future Worlds Cohort accelerates the most promising startup talent on campus, with startups flying to Silicon Valley to connect with the University’s network of investors, mentors, and other startup founders in California, before a select few being put forward to pitch at Demo Day.

Future Worlds has an amazing track record of success with three of their recent alumni being listed by Forbes 30 under 30, and their businesses receiving awards and funding from hugely prestigious investors, with over £110 million being raised by Future Worlds startups.
