Two innovative startups join ONE Tech Hub

Aberdeen’s ONE Tech Hub has welcomed two ambitious tenants, energy tech company Energy Insider and AI startup VetAI, further cementing the hub’s role as the home of the region’s digital tech sector, one of the UK’s fastest growing.

The northeast digital tech ecosystem includes more than 300 digital tech businesses with turnover of £0.6 billion and 4,800 jobs. The sector already has international reach and is on course to more than double in size and create an additional 3,000 high-value jobs over the next decade, as innovation-led enterprises scale and gain global reach.

Opportunity North East (ONE), provides entrepreneurial education, mentoring, deep sector knowledge and industry expertise that growing businesses require to succeed. ONE Tech Hub has recently welcomed two high-potential startups, Energy Insider and VetAI, further underlining Aberdeen’s growing reputation as a destination for talent and innovation.

Energy Insider is tackling one of the sector’s most pressing challenges, the safe, efficient, and cost-effective decommissioning of late-life oil and gas assets. With over £21 billion expected to be spent on decommissioning in the UK over the next decade, a shortage of knowledge and experience is already contributing to inefficiencies and rising costs. Through Lean Decom, Energy Insider is bringing together industry leaders to share knowledge, insights, and lessons learned via a new video-based training platform. This collaborative initiative not only equips the workforce for transition but also helps operators deliver safer, more efficient, and more cost-effective decommissioning projects.

Murray Duguid, Founder at Energy Insider commented: “ONE has been a huge supporter of our journey from the EnergyTech programme to now being based at ONE Tech Hub. Being part of this vibrant community of digital tech businesses provides the perfect environment for us to grow and we already feel at home.”

VetAI is pioneering new ways to deliver accessible, high-quality veterinary care through artificial intelligence. With a growing shortage of veterinary professionals, its platform supports pet owners while helping to ease pressure on clinical teams.

Chantal Serra, Senior Veterinary Developer, said: “After 20 years in clinical practice, I’ve seen the strain on the profession firsthand. ONE Tech Hub places us at the centre of the thriving digital tech ecosystem in Aberdeen. The networks, collaborative opportunities, and momentum here will help us grow our impact and continue building technology that transforms the way veterinary care is delivered, both locally and globally."

Karen O’Hanlon Director ONE Digital Tech at Opportunity North East commented: “North east Scotland is rapidly becoming one of the nation’s most dynamic hubs for digital tech innovation, where entrepreneurs scale faster and investors unlock serious growth potential. ONE Tech Hub is the home to the region’s ecosystem, which supports high-growth enterprises in AI, data, automation, and enterprise software across EnergyTech, agritech, advanced manufacturing, healthtech and medtech. It’s fantastic to welcome two ambitious and disruptive digital tech business in energy and AI, further strengthening the region’s innovation landscape.”

As more founders and innovators choose to base themselves in the region, ONE Tech Hub continues to grow a dynamic ecosystem where ambitious companies can scale, collaborate, and access the expertise needed to compete on a global stage.
