Student Minds and Mind Data partner to enhance mental health support for university students

Student Minds, the UK charity dedicated to student mental health, has unveiled a new partnership with Mind Data, a digital platform providing real-time mental health insights.

Together, they aim to reshape how university students access mental health support by merging Mind Data’s innovative technology with the trusted, clinically backed resources of Student Minds' Student Space.

A New Approach to Student Mental Health

The partnership enables students to use Mind Data’s platform for personalised, real-time mental health tracking through journaling, while gaining access to tailored resources from Student Space. This seamless integration offers students timely advice and support, empowering them to take a proactive approach in managing their mental health.

The collaboration seeks to enhance the accessibility and impact of mental health services at universities throughout the UK, focusing on providing expert, individualised support that addresses the specific concerns of students.

"Empowering Students to Build Their Mental Health Toolkit"

Izzy Watkins, Senior Programme Manager at Student Minds, commented: “Empowering students to build their own mental health toolkit is one of our priorities at Student Minds, and our work with Mind Data will help do just that. By combining their data- driven platform with our reliable Student Space resources, we can provide students with timely and relevant advice to support them through the uncertainty of student life."

A Data-Driven Approach to Mental Health

The Mind Data platform analyses journal entries to identify themes driving lower or improved mental health and intelligently serves up five relevant Student Minds resources directly to students. For example, if financial stress is identified as a key issue for a student, Mind Data will provide resources tagged with that theme, such as articles on budgeting or finding part- time work at university.

Sean Ruane, Founder and CEO of Mind Data, shared his enthusiasm for the collaboration: “As someone who struggled with suicidal depression during my university years, this collaboration is deeply personal to me. Together with Student Minds, we can intelligently deliver support to students at the right time, helping them navigate the challenges of university life and beyond.”
