Staccs, agrees major long-term deal with INA

Swedish tech startup, Staccs, agrees major long-term deal with INA, unearthing extraordinary, rare music content for its premium streaming service for concert video

Swedish tech startup, Staccs, has clinched a long-term content deal with INA, a unique kind of media organisation which boasts 80 years of France’s TV, radio and online material, for its streaming service. Launched locally in the Nordics and the Baltic states earlier this year, Staccs provides fans the opportunity to relive their favourite concerts, on demand, advert free and in the highest quality possible. This major content agreement will allow Staccs to unearth legendary and historical content, made available on Staccs. The new home for concerts on demand, Staccs presents a new commercial opportunity for the music industry and repertoire owners.

The agreement with INA means that extremely rare content has been singled out from the French national archives for fans to rediscover and enjoy. Over three years, Staccs will work with INA to identify treasured live shows which will be uploaded to the streaming platform every quarter - seeing over 100 hours of programming throughout the agreement.

Both Staccs and INA will dig deep into the French archives uncovering extraordinary content that was originally broadcast across French TV from the late 1970s into the early 1980s from artists such as The Police, The Clash, Elvis Costello, Ramones, The Cure, Madness, Tom Petty, Devo, The Pretenders, ZZ Top and much more. The deal will explore content from legendary French music shows such as Chorus and other programming which saw performances recorded live in Paris.

With a lot of the programming having not been re-broadcast since it was first shown on French TV, this deal provides fans a unique chance to enjoy special live shows that have been preserved for decades. Fans will be able to start enjoying this relic material later this year.

Staccs has been designed to stream video and audio content to a premium standard. Now available locally to music fans in the Nordics and Baltic states, subscribers can access Staccs which is based on a simple user subscription model. Pricing is tiered according to options on upgrades to content or sound.

For the music industry and repertoire owners, the platform is providing an untapped revenue stream. By commercialsing archive digital content, artists and rights holders will benefit from a revenue share model based between the copyright owners, the artists and Staccs.

Anders Tullgren, Chief Executive Officer of Staccs, said: “This long-term commitment from INA is a major coup for Staccs. Not only does it demonstrate how we are building the world’s greatest concert catalogue in history but it showcases our ambition to be a forward-thinking media company with serious growth aspirations. We are cementing our position within the market to be the go-to home for concerts on demand.”

Laurent Vallet, CEO of INA, said: “INA's mission is to preserve, create and share content of great societal and cultural significance. This is definitely the case of these phenomenal live shows, and Staccs is just the perfect platform to enable us to bring them to new audiences. Fans should be able to enjoy our unique content and deserve the best experience of concert video possible. This is why we are proud to work with Staccs and thrilled about this long-term deal!"
