Solivus’ lightweight solar panels and ARC generators set to ‘rewrite the rules’

Solivus’ crowdfunding campaign on Crowdcube has raised over £2.6m from over 1,000 investors

Solivus, a clean tech firm, have announced that its funding round with Crowdcube has surpassed £2.6m in just three days thanks to a rapid flurry of new investment from over 1,000 investors.

The money raised will be dedicated to expanding the Solivus team, accelerating the development of the rooftop business and funding the continued development of the Solivus Arc, set for mass market launch in 2022.

Given the early success of the raise, while Solivus will be continuing to accept investment, would-be investors yet to get involved, should be advised that there is limited equity available so the campaign may close in advance of the scheduled 30 days.

Solivus will be utilising the additional funding to grow its team and invest in product development to expedite the growth of its two core innovations

Rooftop Thin-Film Solar Systems

  • Commercial properties: Lightweight, thin-film solar solutions for large commercial properties where businesses are looking to lower their energy costs and carbon emissions but have buildings unable to take the weight of conventional solar.  Enabling large commercial properties including distribution centres, warehouses and airport hangars to become solar power plants.
  • Stadiums and Arenas: Architectural rooftop solar solutions for stadiums and arenas where aesthetics and sightlines are paramount. These buildings are designed to maximise sightlines using less columns supporting the roof which means they have less ability to take the weight of conventional solar. Owners are looking for options that lower their energy costs and align with their sustainability strategy.

The Solivus Arc

  • Domestic: The Solivus Arc - a revolutionary solar array to power people’s homes and electric vehicles. This patent-granted solar solution provides an alternative to rooftop solar and has incredible low-carbon credentials.

Solivus’ ultimate mission is to allow mega-buildings, homes and communities to lower their carbon footprint and generate their own local green energy through a family of solar solutions. Using new thin-film solar technology to design truly innovative products, Solivus is opening up vast new markets previously unavailable to traditional solar - both in the UK and across the world.

Commenting on the success of the crowdfunding campaign so far, CEO of Solivus, Jo Parker-Swift, said “As we look back on COP26, it’s clear the world needs more practical and effective solutions for clean energy to help move us away from fossil fuels. Right now, the world’s governments are scrambling to pass legislation and formulate plans to achieve the goals of the 2015 Paris Climate Agreement – but this will take time; time we don’t have spare. We can’t wait around for this to happen. Instead, we must innovate and make clean energy a reality now – 2022 is the year to make this happen, and Solivus is here to help!

“Our new technology will open up new markets for solar energy that were previously unworkable due to older, heavier solar panels. Our ‘thin-film’ changes the game and will bring mega-buildings and other large structures into play, and our Solivus Arcs can generate clean energy for EVs and homes. We are delighted to see such excellent support so far – we have surpassed £1.25m in this Crowdcube round in just a matter of days.”

This funding news follows Solivus’ recent deal with Cotswold Airport to install innovative thin-film solar across its estate. The airport will serve as an excellent example of how thin-film solar technology can be used on large buildings with thin rooves, and will become the first airport in the world to use new ultra-low carbon organic thin-film solar (OPV) on top of an aircraft hangar to generate green hydrogen which in this case will be used to power to fly ZeroAvia’s hydrogen-electric aircraft, backed by Breakthrough Ventures.

Solivus

"This exciting adventure started by wanting to create a new clean solar energy product that I’d be happy to use at home to power my house and my car. Little did I know that it would result in a number of hugely exciting sustainable products that can help not only homeowners but large commercial buildings as well."
