Rightcharge welcomes raft of new hires
The electric vehicle charging company Rightcharge has appointed automotive industry veteran David Betteley and business growth experts Grethe Skundberg and Julia Stent to its board, to further accelerate its UK operations and set sights on international expansion.
David Betteley, who has extensive experience in the automotive sector in the UK, Europe and around the world, joins Rightcharge as its Chair of the Board. His previous roles include MD of Vauxhall Finance and Masterlease, Senior VP for Toyota Financial Services and Global Financial Services Director for Jaguar Land Rover (JLR).
Betteley maintains a strong connection with JLR as a pension scheme Board member. He is also the Chair at Tomorrows Journey (a vehicle subscription solution) and CrediCar (next generation Financial Services pre-validation platform) as well as maintaining his role as Head of Content for the leading conferencing and webinar business Asset Finance Connect.
Also joining the board are Grethe Skundberg – General Partner at Link Capital, a clean energy venture capital fund and shareholder in Rightcharge, and Julia Stent – a startup and scaleup leader, with each playing a key role in further cementing Rightcharge’s reputation as a leader in the EV charging sector.
Skundberg has extensive experience in the mobility and EV space and will contribute towards Rightcharge's growth, fundraising and internationalisation strategy. She currently sits on the board of the car-sharing business, HAYK, and chairs the Nomination Committee for Zaptec, a charge point manufacturer that Link Capital has supported from an early-stage business through to IPO.
Stent is a highly experienced global scaling technology startup advisor, who has been chosen to lead Rightcharge’s strategic development and commercial opportunities, putting them at the forefront of the industry. Julia acts as a board and C-suite advisor to Genie Ventures (a fast-growth performance marketing group), Mention Me (advocacy SaaS, that recently closed a $25m Series B round from Octopus Ventures), and Uniqodo (retail SaaS). Julia was previously in the executive team at Uswitch (major utilities comparison), Top10 Hotels (global travel comparison) and Paws.com.
Charlie Cook, CEO of Rightcharge, said: “As the world rapidly moves toward an increasingly electrified future, we continue to support our mission of simplifying the transition to an electric vehicle. We’re delighted to have David, Grethe and Julia join us - their outstanding combination of automotive, technology and climate-friendly business experience will further support our fantastic team.”
David Betteley, Chair of the Board at Rightcharge, said: "The automotive industry is undergoing a transformative shift towards sustainability, and Rightcharge's commitment to making the transition to electric cars easier for people aligns perfectly with my passion for shaping a greener future. I’m delighted to be joining them on their journey.”
Grethe Skundberg, Member of the Board at Rightcharge, said: “I am hugely excited to be joining such a motivated, climate-positive company and look forward to supporting Rightcharge’s strategic delivery of growth within the UK and assessing opportunities to deliver their services into new markets.”
Julia Stent, Member of the Board at Rightcharge, said: “I’m thrilled to be advising Rightcharge on strategic development and commercial opportunities. I’m looking forward to working closely with Charlie, David, and Grethe to make EV charging easier, cleaner, cheaper, and more accessible for drivers. Given my previous experience in comparison and marketplaces, I can see the substantial opportunity for Rightcharge to succeed in this space.”
The new hires further bolster Rightcharge’s network of industry support. It has already secured investment from Link Venture Capital as well as a host of Angel investors including James Hind (founder of carwow), Mike Allen (Zeus Capital / early investor in carwow) and Stuart Dyble (co-founder of Influence emobility / former board member at Jaguar Land Rover).
Rightcharge has also established several partnerships with key industry companies including Lookers, Select Car Leasing and Green Flag.
