Residency unveils its autumn/winter programme to support small businesses
From October 2022, Residency will be organising monthly pop-ups at its Islington Square site in North London.
Each calendar month will focus on a certain theme to attract brands from various retail sectors including home accessories, seasonal gifting, wellness and beauty and baby and kids. The 177 square metre space can host between 6-8 brands at a time, each with the autonomy of their own area but within a contained and curated space.
The Residency model is designed to elevate, showcase, and support brands from start to finish. The team provides everything required, from fixtures to fittings and digital rebranding, backed up by thirty years of retail design. For a maximum cost of £150 ex VAT a day, each brand who participates will be a part of a 14-day multi-brand pop-up that is managed and marketed by Residency. In addition, Residency will host a launch party for each pop-up that encourages all participating brands to cross-pollinate their audiences and grow their reach.
Andrew Martin, Founder of Residency, comments: “Making the step from e-commerce to physical retail can be key to growing a small business that’s looking to create a tactile brand experience. However, increased costs of high street retailing, combined with e-commerce competition, makes it difficult to make it work financially. Residency offers up a solution which is hassle-free and affordable for brands.”

Andrew Martin adds: “Out of the pandemic we have seen a rise in emerging, small brands. In addition, we have seen a change in mindset for many people who want to shop local and who are after high-quality and sustainable products and services. With the current client being so uncertain, short term affordable spaces allow companies to reach their market in the physical sense in an affordable high impact, low risk way.”
To date, Residency has seen brands including LSA, Innermost, YOTO Play and Future Icons all pop-up in the space which started out as an innovative and sustainable solution for short to mid-term retailing but has since evolved to accommodate for smaller, independent brands who would benefit from a more umbrella concept which is directed by expert curation, marketing, design, and logistics, as well as continuing to be a solo-use space for hire.
Residency is located at Islington Square, Unit G12, North Arcade, 129E Upper Street, Islington, N1 1QP. The team is currently looking for fashion and accessory brands to join the October pop-up.
