Marc Randolph, founder and first CEO of Netflix, joins South Summit Madrid

The founder and first CEO of the streaming platform Netflix, Marc Randolph, will be one of the main speakers at South Summit Madrid 2024, the world's leading meeting of the entrepreneurial ecosystem co-organized by IE University, which will be held at La Nave in  Madrid between June 5 and 7.

Randolph is one of Silicon Valley's most veteran and respected executives and entrepreneurs, having co-founded the movie and series streaming service Netflix in 1997. For six years Marc Randolph was the CEO of the platform, where he played a pivotal role in its transformation from a small DVD-by-mail rental company to the world's leading streaming service, with over 200 million subscribers.

In addition to his pivotal work building and driving Netflix, Randolph has an extensive career spanning four decades. In that time, he has founded more than half a dozen successful startups and companies, including analytics software company Looker Data Sciences, which was acquired by Google in 2019 for $2.6 billion. In addition, throughout his career he has served as a mentor and investor to hundreds of entrepreneurs and startups and currently serves on the boards of the companies Solo Brands, Augment Technologies, Dishcraft Technologies and Truckee Donner Land Trust. 

Marc Randolph is also the author of the book 'That Will Never Work - the birth of Netflix and the amazing life of an idea' where he recounts his experiences and lessons learned in founding the streaming service, host of the podcast 'That Will Never Work' and contributor and investor in the web series 'Elevator Pitch' of Entrepreneur magazine, where invited entrepreneurs have 60 seconds to present their project to the investors present.

Randolph joins more than 100 leaders and experts from the global entrepreneurial ecosystem already confirmed as speakers at the twelfth edition of South Summit Madrid. Under the slogan "Human By Design", South Summit Madrid 2024 will bring together entrepreneurs and representatives of investment funds and international corporations to answer the questions posed by the new technological era: how the impact that new technologies in conditioning the definition of the human being or how advances and innovation should help humanity as a whole.

In its previous edition, South Summit Madrid brought together more than 20,000 attendees, of which 6,500 were entrepreneurs, 2,000 investors with an investment portfolio of more than $326 billions and 650 top-speakers.
