LovOn raises $850K for AI relationship coach for couples

LovOn, a US-based AI-powered bonding platform for couples, raised $850,000 in pre-seed funding to launch the most human-like AI coach designed to help couples navigate their relationship challenges, from intimacy to domestic conflicts.

It is intended as a go-to communicator, trained on anonymised coaching and therapeutic session data, combined with Cognitive Behavioural Therapy methodologies, to help partners open up and navigate tough periods in relationships.

The funding round was led by Pre-Seed to Succeed, an investment programme backed by AltaIR Capital, Yellow Rocks, Smart Partnership Capital, and I2BF Ventures, with participation from HEARTFELT and 13 business angels.

“Romantic relationships between partners are always a complex matter, and LovOn fits perfectly into this niche. Unlike traditional methods, LovOn uses AI for personalized support, enabling couples to address problems before they escalate,” commented Sergei Bogdanov, Co-Founder of Pre-Seed to Succeed and managing partner at Yellow Rocks. “We are confident that technology has significant potential.”

“We believe LovOn has succeeded in seamlessly integrating algorithms into human relationships – something that many try to build, few manage to achieve, and even fewer make work,” added Nikolay Kirpichnikov, Co-Founder of Pre-Seed to Succeed and managing partner at Smart Partnership Capital.

Finding a good therapist can take months, and early intervention in relationship issues is critical. LovOn personalises the experience by tailoring a relationship coach’s digital personality to each user’s preferences using voice and emotion recognition algorithms. A comprehensive onboarding process will help LovOn users choose the traits and style of communication that make them feel most comfortable when discussing intimate topics.

The therapeutic effect is enhanced through continuous support across multiple sessions, utilising information from previous interactions. LovOn places strong emphasis on user security and actively works to prevent any negative consequences from AI hallucinations.

Dr. Daniel Kriegman, a practicing family therapist with a Ph.D. in Clinical Psychology from Boston University, has joined the LovOn team as advisor to help maximise the quality of communication with the AI relationships coach.

“After 45 years in psychology and over two decades specializing in family therapy, I believe AI offers unprecedented opportunities to support couples. I am eager to contribute to the development of LovOn’s platform to ensure it delivers meaningful and ethical therapeutic interactions,” said Dr. Kriegman.

“For me, LovOn is more than just a startup, it’s the reflection of my personal experience of building relationships with my wife and maintaining our bond even in the challenging periods,” said Sergey Bakaev, the CEO and Co-Founder of LovOn.

Before LovOn, Sergey, together with Kirill Ilichev and Anton Ponikarovskii, developed the MUBR app, which helped enhance the relationship between friends and partners through music. Eventually, the focus has shifted to couples, who have a greater need for digital interactions.
