Jasper SME Hub Targets 50,000 African Businesses for Growth
Jasper SME Hub, a prominent accelerator and educational institution for small and medium enterprises (SMEs), has unveiled an ambitious plan to bolster the expansion of 50,000 Nigerian businesses by 2025.
This initiative was announced at the Hub's annual SMEFest, an energetic assembly of entrepreneurs and key industry figures, which this year operated under the banner "Building To Scale."
“SMEs are the backbone of our economy, contributing significantly - about 50% - to Nigeria's GDP," emphasised Emmanuel Olujobi, UK based Founder of Jasper SME Hub, in his opening remarks. "They deserve our unwavering support and the tools they need to thrive."
The keynote address was delivered by Dr Jumoke Oduwole MFR, Special Adviser to the Nigerian President on the Presidential Enabling Business Environment Council. Dr Oduwole outlined a series of opportunities for small businesses to leverage in 2024, highlighting government initiatives and resources aimed at fostering entrepreneurship and growth.
SMEFest 2024 served as a platform not only for knowledge sharing but also for fostering collaboration and networking. Panel discussions delved into strategies for business growth and continuity, while the event's Business Pitch Session provided a platform for budding entrepreneurs to showcase their ideas and compete for valuable resources.
Resavation, an AI-powered real estate service platform, emerged as the winner of the pitch session, impressing the judges with its innovative approach to simplifying property search and transactions. The company's victory highlights the potential of technology to drive growth and success in the Nigerian SME landscape.
Jasper SME Hub's ambitious target of supporting 50,000 businesses by 2025 signifies a bold commitment to empowering Nigerian entrepreneurs and unlocking the full potential of the SME sector. By fostering a supportive ecosystem through events like SMEFest, providing access to knowledge and resources, and connecting businesses with opportunities, the Hub is playing a crucial role in building a thriving entrepreneurial landscape in Nigeria.
