Getty Images launches commercially safe Generative AI tool for small businesses
Getty Images has announced the introduction of Generative AI by iStock. This innovative tool, affordable and commercially reliable, is designed to assist users and businesses in transforming their creative ideas into impactful visual content.
Leveraging the power of NVIDIA Picasso, a platform for custom generative AI models tailored for visual design, Generative AI by iStock has been specifically trained using high-quality content and proprietary data from Getty Images’ extensive creative libraries.
One of the key features of this tool is its ability to avoid generating known products, people, places, or other copyrighted elements, providing businesses with confidence in the content they generate. Additionally, any visual content produced using the tool and licensed by a customer comes with iStock’s standard legal coverage of $10K USD, similar to the coverage provided for iStock’s broader image and video libraries.
Generative AI by iStock is designed to integrate seamlessly with iStock's vast library of authentic and ready-for-commercial-use imagery, including millions of exclusive photos, illustrations, and videos. This addition offers customers various options to obtain the right visuals for diverse needs, such as print marketing, social media posts, online promotions, and more.
Grant Farhall, iStock’s Chief Product Officer, emphasised the potential of AI in the creative process. He stated: “Using AI, creatives gain the ability to produce anything they can imagine. Our own VisualGPS research shows that 42% of SMBs and SMEs are already using AI-generated content to support their marketing efforts. Our main goal with Generative AI by iStock is to provide customers with an easy and affordable option to use AI in their creative process, without fear that something that is legally protected has snuck into the dataset and could end up in their work.”
Generative AI by iStock also offers advanced features through APIs, enabling easy integration into creative applications and plugins for image modification. The tool is now accessible to all iStock customers in over 75 languages, offering a low-cost entry point to explore commercially safe generative AI for marketing endeavours. Customers have the option to download and license any generated visual, with legal indemnification included at no extra cost.
