Freepik taps former Spotify Exec as Chief Market Development Officer for U.S. expansion and adoption
Freepik has announced the appointment of Jose Florido as Chief Market Development Officer, United States, effective immediately, and the opening of its first U.S. office located in San Francisco.
This announcement comes on the heels of an incredible period of growth for the business, with Freepik Company reaching $87M in revenue in 2022, a 25% year-over-year (YoY) spike, driven by reaching over 100 million users.
Florido brings significant growth and design expertise to Freepik Company and will lead the market strategy for U.S. expansion to broaden the presence in this key region. In his new role, Florido will focus on the growth of the flagship product, Freepik, the largest platform of photos, videos, vector images, illustrations, and PSD files. He will also be responsible for Slidesgo, an extensive catalog of free Google Slides themes and PowerPoint templates to boost presentations – of which 66.4% of the platform’s premium subscribers are users from the U.S.

In his new role as Chief Market Development Officer at Freepik Company, Florido will lead the strategic development of Freepik Company in the U.S., including the opening of the company’s first U.S. office. He will also be responsible for the strategic direction and operational performance of Freepik Company’s leading products in the U.S. market, Freepik and Slidesgo.
With a strong focus on building and managing design teams, Florido previously held the position of Director of Product Design at Spotify, where he was primarily responsible for redefining the product development cycle – including engineering, product, and design. Before that, he held the role of Product Design Manager at Facebook, Inc. (now Meta Platforms, Inc.) and was a UX Designer at Google.
