Everything you need to know about expansion into APAC

UK tech scaleups now have access to invaluable insights into the most sought-after technologies in the APAC region, thanks to a newly launched online library from the UK-APAC Tech Growth Programme. This resource features a collection of free workshops and detailed reports designed to help UK businesses make their first foray into this dynamic market.

The APAC region's demand for UK tech is surging, fuelled by global corporations striving to enhance or reclaim their competitive edge. Technologies such as quantum computing, AI, semiconductors, cybersecurity, environmental monitoring, and space innovations are attracting significant interest.

The online library offers a range of interactive workshops, available on-demand, covering crucial topics like ‘Taking your first steps in APAC,’ ‘Navigating Asian business cultures,’ and ‘Securing the deal.’ These sessions, led by experts with direct experience in the region, provide practical guidance on building successful business relationships and cover the essential steps for establishing and managing a business in APAC.

In addition to the workshops, the library includes a series of market reports that offer in-depth analysis of opportunities for UK tech scaleups in countries such as Japan, South Korea, Taiwan, Vietnam, Thailand, Singapore, and Malaysia. Each report presents an overview of the market landscape, identifies key players, and provides strategic advice on how to enter and thrive in these markets.

This library is provided by the UK-APAC Tech Growth Programme, which helps high-growth technology companies to explore and secure the commercial opportunities in 11 APAC markets: South Korea, Japan, Taiwan, Singapore, Vietnam, Malaysia, the Philippines, Thailand, Indonesia, Australia and New Zealand.

In addition to educational resources, the Programme offers a range of free and subsidised services to participating companies. These include consultation sessions with market experts; opportunities to pitch technologies to Asian corporates; and ‘Business Development Initiatives’ – outreach programmes that enable participants to identify and meet qualified potential customers and partners in an APAC market.

The UK-APAC Tech Growth Programme is delivered by international business development consultancy Intralink.

Jeremy Shaw, who heads the UK-APAC Tech Growth Programme at Intralink, said: “The UK technology sector leads in Europe and ranks third only behind the US and China on the global stage. This success is fuelled by collaboration and partnerships with international companies and, while breaking into APAC markets can seem daunting, the opportunities they present are immense. The free resources now available from the UK-APAC Tech Growth Programme will help tech scaleups gain an insight into their prospects in the APAC region and learn how they can transform them into firm deals.

“We urge those who see synergies between the innovative technologies they’ve developed and demand in APAC markets to register for the Programme so we can provide the advice and practical support they need to ensure their businesses can capitalise on the opportunities on offer.”
