Ethical ticketing platform adopts what3words to deliver better event experiences

Event organisers can provide attendees with precise locations for meeting points, restrooms, emergency services and much more

Ticketpass has adopted what3words location technology to help event organisers guide guests to exact event and venue locations easily and accurately.

what3words is now fully integrated into the Ticketpass platform, giving organisers the option of displaying what3words addresses for event entrances, facilities and amenities on tickets and booking confirmations. As a result, attendees to events ticketed with Ticketpass will now be able to navigate venues and locations with ease and precision.

what3words is reimagining the way we communicate location. It has given every 3-metre square in the world a unique combination of three words: a what3words address. For example, ///punks.hills.ideal will take you to the Bobby Moore Statue outside Wembley Stadium. It's an easy way to find, share and navigate to precise locations, anywhere in the world.

For Ticketpass, it’s all about accuracy and what that means for organisers that depend on event efficiency. what3words addresses guide users to particular entrances or points of interest. Far more useful than a pin in the centre of a building or large event site.

Despite the many challenges facing the events industry during the ongoing pandemic, Ticketpass is among those  using innovation to promote easier, safer and better event experiences for everyone. The partnership is the first of its kind and one of several planned to make events better for everyone.

Russ Cook, content and partnerships manager at Ticketpass says: “Of course, at our core, we want to give back. But giving back isn’t just about donations and charitable efforts. For us, at Ticketpass, it’s about providing the best tools for organisers to help change this tired old sector. Working with what3words to make event navigation and organisation more accurate and efficient is truly exciting.”

Chris Sheldrick, Co-Founder and CEO of what3words says: “There is nothing more frustrating than being unable to find meeting points, toilets, or food stalls at a busy event because there isn't a straightforward way to get there. Now that what3words is built into Ticketpass’ innovative ethical ticketing solution, event organisers can help people to find any 3 metre square with ease. It’s the first integration of its kind, and we’re excited that Ticketpass is paving the way for a world where what3words addresses appear on every event ticket and booking confirmation.

Street addresses weren’t designed for 2022. They aren’t accurate enough to specify precise locations, such as building entrances, and don’t exist for parks and many rural areas. This makes it hard to find places and prevents people from describing exactly where help is needed in an emergency.
