CorrActions raises $7.25M to prevent accidents through AI-based brain activity monitoring
CorrActions, an Israeli startup specialising in AI-driven driver safety, recently concluded a highly successful Series A funding round, securing $7.25 million.
This round, notably oversubscribed, was led by Volvo Cars Tech Fund and saw contributions from BlackBerry and esteemed venture capital firms such as Next Gear Ventures, Mobilitech Capital, Regah Ventures, OurCrowd, NextLeap Ventures, and Stone Ventures. The newly acquired funds are earmarked for accelerating the integration of CorrActions' solution into production vehicles, a process already underway with several automakers.
The company has developed innovative AI-based software that detects cognitive state anomalies in drivers and passengers. By analysing micro muscle movements indicative of brain activity, the software utilises existing vehicle sensors, such as those in the steering wheel, in-cabin radars, and seats, to identify states like intoxication, fatigue, and distraction in drivers.
A key benefit for automakers is CorrActions' commitment to privacy in driver monitoring. The software, implementable in consumer vehicles via Over-the-Air (OTA) software updates, including through the BlackBerry IVY vehicle platform, operates without collecting Personal Identifiable Information (PII). This approach allows automakers to offer privacy-centric driver monitoring without additional sensors or cameras, reducing costs and supply chain complexities and simplifying integration for rapid deployment.
CorrActions is actively collaborating with various automakers to implement its solution, aiming to enhance driver and passenger safety and wellbeing. The solution also offers advantages for fleets and telematics service providers, including reduced insurance costs, improved delivery times, and heightened driver safety.
Founded in 2019 by neuropsychologist Dr Eldad Hochman and business veteran Zvi Ginosar, CorrActions is led by CEO Ilan Reingold, former Chief Business Officer at Sony and General Manager at Broadcom.
Reingold commented on the funding achievement: "Our successful Series A funding round is a testament to the industry's recognition of the potential of CorrActions' AI-based brain activity monitoring technology. With the support of our strategic investors, including Volvo Cars and BlackBerry, we are poised to further drive the adoption of our solution in production vehicles. By detecting abnormalities in drivers' and passengers' cognitive states, we aim to significantly enhance road safety and revolutionise the driving experience."
Anooj Shah, Senior Director, Investments & Strategy at BlackBerry, added: “BlackBerry is excited to partner with CorrActions and support their mission of safer roads with their privacy-first, driver safety technology. CorrActions’ machine learning algorithms are already pre-integrated into BlackBerry IVY to simplify in-vehicle deployment for automakers.”
Tali Rosenwaks, Partner at Next Gear Ventures, remarked: “We’ve been following CorrActions closely for a long period and promoting their engagements with customers as part of our DriveTLV FastLane commercialisation program. We are excited to invest in CorrActions to help make vehicles safer with their unique and promising offering.”
Orlie Gruper, General Partner at Mobilitech Capital, stated: "We are thrilled to partner with CorrActions, a trailblazer in road safety solutions. CorrActions stands out as the sole provider of a software-only solution addressing a critical safety concern — driving under the influence of alcohol and fatigue. Our collaboration with the CorrActions team is a testament to our commitment to making roads safer and shaping the future of in-vehicle experience."
