Pinar Akiskalioglu
BIO
Pinar Akiskalioglu, 40, is an entrepreneur who wants to make the business and beauty worlds more ethical.
She passionately believes that both have lost their way in a relentless pursuit of profits. Too many businesses prioritise their bottom line over the welfare of their employees, a tactic that doesn’t inspire future growth. The beauty industry is too focused on their bottom line, aiming for sky high profits by encouraging excessive consumption against the backdrop of a climate emergency.
After a decade in the beauty industry she founded TAKK, a personal care brand which sells a stripped-back collection of beauty essentials. Pinar and her team openly dispel the myth that you (and the planet) need no more than a few simple products and are critical of beauty marketing which makes us buy products we don’t need. More recently, she founded The Punk Business School aimed at entrepreneurs and intrapreneurs who want to become better, more empathetic and intuitive leaders and who put purpose over profit.
Pinar lives in London. Along with dividing her time between TAKK and Punk Business School, she is also a board member of Ricoti, a renewable energy business and consultant at Oxford Garage, a mentor hub for new startups.
