Lucia Roman is the multidisciplinary designer behind NinefootStudio — a Bali-based surf and swimwear label where surf culture meets thoughtful design.

Born in Alicante, Spain, and now based in Bali, Lucia grew up immersed in craftsmanship and creativity. After studying Fashion and Footwear Design, she began her career at Zara, specializing in footwear design and trend forecasting. She later moved to Los Angeles to join Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. label, where she rose to become Head of Footwear — designing bold, directional pieces worn by icons like Jennifer Lopez, Sandra Bullock, and Gwen Stefani herself.

In 2017, after a decade in the industry, Lucia made a life-changing move to Bali, seeking a slower rhythm shaped by the ocean and daily surf. It was there that she founded NinefootStudio — a label redefining women’s surfwear through a curated wardrobe of high-performance, sustainable pieces, made with intention and built to last.

At NinefootStudio, Lucia leads every step of the process. All collections are designed and produced in-house at the brand’s Bali atelier using premium sustainable and recycled fabrics. The result: surfwear that fits like a tailored garment and moves effortlessly with the body — made for salt, sweat, and everything in between.

Lucia’s design philosophy blends European sensibility with island living, drawing inspiration from fashion, product design, and architecture. Her pieces reflect a holistic approach: timeless, functional, and built with purpose. Each collection is as considered as it is wearable — made for women who live, move, and create with intention.

Today, NinefootStudio is a rising name in elevated surfwear — designed for surfers, by surfers.
