Jonathan Carrier
BIO
Following a business degree at Cambridge University and MBA at Imperial University, Jonathan became a product and planning strategist within the automotive sector, working for brands including Mazda, Jaguar LandRover and McLaren.
He subsequently became Head of InMotion at InMotion Ventures in 2014 where he established a separate business: a venture factory to create, pilot and fund new mobility businesses from the ground up. He built a cross-functional team of 30+ in engineering, product, operations and growth.
After 3.5 years, he became Director of Corporation Innovation at Rocket Space to run a mobility start-up accelerator for BP, Avis Budget, Allstate, Magna, IBM and Renault-Nissan
In 2020 Jonathan became co-founder of ZipCharge, an innovative portable EV charger that addressed a critical issue for those without access to off-street parking. This experience deepened his understanding of the energy sector’s challenges and opportunities, particularly the need for democratising access to clean energy. “I could very quickly see how battery storage inside homes of all types was really important,” Jonathan explains.
As a consultant to the automotive and mobility sector, Allye Energy was born with a mission to solve grid constraints and lower energy bills for businesses, properties, and households.
Jonathan has made the company’s goal is to make clean energy accessible to everyone, regardless of income level or housing situation. “Technology is becoming more abundant, but we’re also creating greater divergence between those who can afford new technologies that help to decarbonize and lower their bills and those who can’t,” Jonathan notes, pointing out the inequity that Allye Energy aims to address.
