Gavin is CEO of Here East – the 1.2 million sq ft technology and Innovation campus on the Queen Elizabeth Olympic Park in London. Here East is the most successful re-development of an Olympic Press and Broadcast Centre globally, and one of the fastest growing business clusters in the UK, home to companies such as Ford Smart Mobility, Fiit.tv (Netflix of fitness) and Sports Interactive (owners of Football Manager).
Recently, Gavin has been at the forefront of developing the concept of creating London’s first digital games and esports cluster. Here East is home to Sports Interactive, Bidstack, and the University of Staffordshire’s Digital Institute London which offers degrees for students looking to pursue a career in esports and game design.
Prior to entering the property industry, Gavin served as an engineering officer in the UK Royal Air Force for over 20 years before leaving following tours as a Wing Commander. Upon leaving the military service, he ran the Centre for Social Justice (CSJ) and helped form major policy initiatives including the introduction of the Modern-Day Slavery Act within the UK.
In addition to running Here East, Gavin is a board member of Plexal, Delancey’s innovation centre and sister company to Here East, which is home to over 120 companies and 800 members. Gavin also sits on the Advisory Board of Global Tech Advocates and is a London Technology Ambassador for London and Partners. In addition, he sits on the Advisory Board for London Tech Week.
