Esmé Swindells is a commercially focused, experienced Chartered UK and European Patent Attorney, specialising in life science technology and startup companies at IP law firm Potter Clarkson. Esmé has significant expertise in managing and prosecuting global patent portfolios which has seen her handle national and international applications.

Working with not only founders, but also investors to perform IP due diligence, Esmé has experience on both sides of the startup ecosystem coin. With this track record, she is able to advise founders on the steps required to prepare for investment rounds, and also investors on what to look for when investing in startup companies.
Since September, Esmé has been working remotely, taking part in Remote Year, a community of digital nomads that facilitates people to travel whilst working. By spending a month in cities across the world, Esmé sees first-hand what makes each city and their startup community unique. The inspiration came from the power of social media, with Esmé's regular LinkedIn posts gaining hundreds of shares and comments, leading to new opportunities and connections, such as the invitation to meet the Head of Science and Innovation at Split University.
