Dr. Duncan Martin is Head of Entrepreneurship at the Bayes Centre, the University of Edinburgh's Innovation Hub for Data Science and Artificial Intelligence. His career spans both academia and industry, beginning with a PhD in Neuroscience followed by five years at a global contract research organisation.

In 2008, he joined the University of Edinburgh as Scientific Business Manager, progressing to Head of Operations for the university's medical imaging facilities over 14 years. During this time, he completed an MBA from Edinburgh Business School and played a key role in creating and growing the Edinburgh Imaging entity alongside leading academics and NHS service managers.

Before joining the Bayes Centre, where he translates academic and scientific innovation into real-world impact, Duncan spent a year at EnteroBiotix, a fast-growing microbiome startup scaling toward IPO. In this role, he gained first-hand insight into the challenges and opportunities of entrepreneurship. He currently serves as a nominator for The Earthshot Prize, connecting the initiative with Bayes' entrepreneurial ecosystem.

He holds a PhD in Neuroscience from the University of Edinburgh, a BSc in Pharmacology from the University of Aberdeen, and a PG Diploma in Vocational IT from the University of St Andrews.
