Where are they now? isosconnect
isosconnect is an app for independent health & well-being practitioners, simple & safe software to keep you connected to your clients. The last time we spoke with Kim Page, her and her team were on the cusp of launching isosconnect – an online platform where practitioners can meet clients online, safely, and securely.
During the last 12 months, isosconnect has gone from a minimum viable product (MVP) to happily serving customers, which Kim said is something you never take for granted. “You push so hard through that zero to one and the customer has come along and is using your product really well to do exactly what you intended – that’s a pretty good feeling.”
More importantly, Kim notes, is that the company made a proper breakthrough in its market and “found some friends to play with”. It joined two membership bodies and build relationships with a business services company and insurance company, who all provide to isosconnect’s target market.
Now, the company is just embarking upon another raise which Kim explained is an opportunity to glue the whole strategy together and talk about the big picture. isosconnect has three customer groups: the practitioners, the digital health economy who want access to those practitioners and the end-user, or the patient. Kim said: “We now have a very clear plan to glue it all together, taking our pre-pandemic work that COVID interrupted and gluing it back to what we’ve been working on for the last year. And having a bit of revenue whilst we’re doing it!”.
Kim also shared some exciting news that isosconnect has also scored the Boost Fund. The Boost Fund is a fast, data-driven investment vehicle that backs startups with real potential. “It’s been really interesting to go through this data driven, unbiased algorithm assessing the business and then getting some Boost Fund placement.”
Feedback from customers on isosconnect has been positive, with the most common comment being that it’s pretty! This is actually really important because healthcare software is often a bit bloated. Why have one box when you can have six?! Kim explained that this is the joy of isosconnect: “It’s designed for that one solo practitioner and designing beautiful software that’s a pleasure to use translates into real-time savings.”
Of course, there have also been some challenges along the way. Last time we spoke with Kim, she mentioned one particular challenge was getting practitioners comfortable with the idea of digital practising. Digital health has grown so quickly that there’s a decade’s worth of capability coming from the technology space and then, all of a sudden, the door got cracked open because of the pandemic.
Whilst digital has been empowering, Kim notes that: “The pressure is there and it’s really harsh right now. Practitioners feel like the digital health companies are shouting at them and telling them what to do.” But isosconnect is there to help them get their heads around the area that they sit in.
More of a personal challenge for Kim was following some sound advice. “As a female founder, you’re intent on just going forwards and we were going forwards at a million miles an hour. But I had some outside advice that was along the lines of “I think you need to stop and pause and reverse up a bit” and I was like, really? That was really hard, but I took the advice, and it was a really good thing to do.”
Launching isosconnect was a very special moment for Kim but actually, her favourite part of the journey so far is the chatbot on her website. Just picture it: “Someone has arrived at the front door; they’ve read what you have to offer, and they have a quick question. You now have the privilege of instantaneously being able to answer that question.”
The next 12 months sounds very exciting for the company. As mentioned, it’s in mid-raise at the moment. As well as that, there are three industry-leading associations that it’s aiming to develop in order to deliver the company message to more people, ethically. It also plans to launch two pilots that bring together all of its practitioners with consumer-facing businesses. “We’re going to make that happen this year, which is really exciting!”
