Treeapp and Big Mamma join forces on Earth day
Treeapp, the mobile app which enables anyone to plant a tree for free everyday, has officially partnered with fellow B Corp the Big Mamma group. To celebrate Earth Day on the 22nd of April, Big Mamma will be planting one tree for every veggie and vegan pizza sold at Ave Mario, Circolo Popolare and Gloria Trattoria.
Treeapp was launched on Earth Day 2020 and has partnered with 300+ brands to plant trees worldwide (with the likes of L’Occitane, Hellofresh or DPD).
This enabled Treeapp to plant over one million trees across 12 countries in less than two years from launch.
Planting trees the right way is crucial to successfully reforest our planet. Treeapp carefully selects through a thorough due diligence process who plants the trees in the ground and what impact each of its projects has, beyond carbon absorption.
From water purification, wildlife benefits to creating sustainable and long-term employment opportunities for indigenous people, Treeapp chooses the most sustainable development projects that have a long-lasting impact.
Treeapp’s impact varies across the globe. In Indonesia, they plant mangroves on the island of Lombok, which help limit the effects of flooding during rainy seasons. In Nepal, Treeapp plants fruit trees with women-led groups in order to promote gender equality in rural societies and in Brazil, their seeds are gathered by a group of indigenous people, the Geraizerios.
Joining forces with the Big Mamma group on Earth Day is an important step in promoting sustainable initiatives. Treeapp’s mission is to re-green this planet: it’s exciting to see many sustainable brands and B Corps planting trees together, inspiring many other businesses on their journey towards carbon neutrality.
