StartUpNV sponsoring third annual Startup Week, Las Vegas
StartUpNV, a nonprofit statewide incubator and accelerator for Nevada-based startups, is again sponsoring the Las Vegas edition of Startup Week, Wednesday, 17-20th September.
Startup Week is a multi-day event held in cities across the world to celebrate entrepreneurship and showcase the local startup community through meetups, lectures, discussions, and celebrations.
With the theme ‘What Happens Here, Scales Here’, Startup Las Vegas features three tracks of programming: Startup Capital, CommUnity, and Innovation. Daytime sessions and nightly happy hours take place primarily at The Assembly by Kiln at the Uncommons in the southwest valley and in downtown Las Vegas. All sessions and gatherings are free to attend, but registration is required at: https://startupweeklasvegas.com
Brad Feld, Co-Founder of Techstars and Foundry Group as well as the acclaimed author of ‘Venture Deals’, will be this year’s virtual keynote on Thursday, 18th September at 1pm sharing lessons from decades of work with founders, funders, and community leaders on how to create startup communities that are inclusive, resilient, and built to last. He will also speak to the ideas behind his new book ‘Give First: The Power of Mentorship’.
Startup Week Las Vegas offers breakout sessions covering a variety of topics including presentations on the advancements made by local tech companies, a fireside chat with the founders of TensorWave, and numerous workshops on relevant subjects including artificial intelligence, refining a pitch, raising and investing capital, and many more. Examples include:
- Leith Martin, general partner in the 1864 Fund and executive director of the Troesh Center for Entrepreneurship and Innovation in the Lee Business School at the University of Nevada-Las Vegas (UNLV), will moderate ‘Step Behind the Curtain of Venture Capital’, a panel discussion to offer an authentic and instructional look at how startup funding happens
- Former founder and Small Business Development Centre (SBDC) consultant, Ethan Clift will speak about how to integrate AI into a founder’s story during ‘Chat GPT as your Co-Founder’
Startup Week Las Vegas will also feature nightly networking happy hours, a Startup Discovery Crawl that connects entrepreneurs with the local vendors, and popular local startup events like the monthly meetup sponsored by Tech Alley, rapid fire presentations known as Ignite Talks Las Vegas, and Pitch Room, an intimate feedback session for pitch practice with investors.
Startup Week Las Vegas is made possible thanks to StartUpNV as well as sponsors: Kiln, U.S. Economic Development Administration (EDA), Nevada Governor's Office of Economic Development (GOED), the city of Las Vegas, the UnCommons, Woven Workspaces, Tech Alley, Lucihub, Culinary Greens, and other local businesses.
