South Summit Madrid 2024 brings together more than 2,000 investors with an investment portfolio of more than $500 billion, $174 billion more than last year.
South Summit Madrid 2024, co-organised by IE University, held its 13th edition from June 5th to 7th. The benchmark meeting for the entrepreneurial and innovative ecosystem brought together more than 6,500 entrepreneurs at La Nave in Madrid, who were able to make high-value connections with 6,000 representatives of corporations and 2,000 investors from all over the world, whose investment portfolio exceeds $500 billion - $174 billion more than last year.
For three consecutive days, #SouthSummit24 welcomed more than 18,000 attendees from 133 different countries, 8 more countries than in last year's edition, which once again highlights the profound international character of the event.
South Summit Madrid 2024 was attended by more than 300 media from all over the world, as well as more than 700 internationally renowned speakers, who spoke about the latest trends in entrepreneurship, innovation and about the need to put the human being at the centre of technological evolution, following this year's motto: 'Human by Design'. It should be noted that 6 out of 10 speakers were of international origin: after Spain, the United Kingdom is the country that contributed the most speakers to the meeting, with 12.7% of the total, followed by the United States (10%), Germany (6.7%) and France (4.5%).
Among these speakers were Steven Bartlett, entrepreneur, writer, investor, and author of the podcast 'The Diary of a CEO', the most listened to in Europe, who focused his speech on the ability to assume failure as part of learning, and Mateo Salvatto, CEO and founder of Asteroid Techs, who at only 18 years old founded a startup that assists more than 400,000 people with disabilities.
At #SouthSummit24, the founders of the 26 international unicorns gathered there also played an important role, such as: Jeff Hoffman, co-founder of Booking and director of the Global Entrepreneurship Network; Uri Levine, founder and CEO of Waze and Moov.it, or Vincent Rosso, co-founder of BlaBlaCar Spain and Consentio. All these leaders offered their perspectives and opinions on technologies such as Artificial Intelligence, as well as advice on entrepreneurship and scaling a project toward business success.
The winning startup of the Startup Competition of the 13th edition of South Summit Madrid was the Madrid-based Invopop, which helps companies to issue invoices in any country thanks to the registration of sales, conversion to invoice format, and communication to the competent tax authority. Four more awards were also presented, so the Barcelona-based startup Sycai was chosen as the 'Most Disruptive' startup, the Murcia- based Navilens as the 'Most Sustainable', and the Madrid-based Shakers and Embat as the 'Most Scalable' and the startup with the 'Best Team', respectively.
#SouthSummit24 had the institutional support of the Secretary of State for Digitalisation and Artificial Intelligence, the Community of Madrid and the Madrid City Council, as well as Mutua Madrileña, Google for Startups, BBVA Spark, Endesa, Wayra – Telefónica Innovation and BStartup of Banco Sabadell.
