Salford student scoops top business award in Türkiye
Ozgun Avincsal, a University of Salford student, has been awarded the title of Most Successful Female Entrepreneur UK in her native Türkiye.
An MSc Biotechnology student set to graduate in summer 2024, Ozgun established her company, Healium Health, six years ago in London. Since then, the company has consistently grown in both the UK and Türkiye, known for its high-quality health products and cost-effective services.
Initially focusing on health tourism, Healium Health evolved to provide consultancy services in cosmetic surgery for UK clients and later expanded to distribute lab consumables from Türkiye to the UK. The company now specializes in aiding the establishment of clinics and laboratories by streamlining the accreditation and regulatory process.
Having recently won the Santander UK Universities award, Ozgun achieved further recognition as the Best UK-based Female Entrepreneur at the International Achievements and Career Awards in Istanbul.
A participant in the University of Salford's Launch@Salford startup incubation program, Ozgun credits much of her success to the program. She stated:
“I learnt so much during my time on the Launch programme. It was fantastic to meet like-minded people, and the networking opportunities through the programme really helped Healium Health grow. The dedicated mentorship from Salford Business School's academic team transformed my university experience. I am extremely grateful for the support from the Launch team and everyone involved in the programme.”
Ozgun expressed her pride in receiving the award and her desire to inspire other young female entrepreneurs, saying, “To receive this award is a great honour, and I want to show to all young female entrepreneurs that you can do it: anything is possible!”
Paul Little, Incubation Manager at Launch@Salford, commented on Ozgun’s achievement: “Ozgun exemplifies the impact of the Launch programme. It’s wonderful to see her recognised in her home country. Salford Business School is increasingly focused on internationalisation, and we're proud that the Launch programme has supported Ozgun in managing her global business. Her success demonstrates that starting a business is achievable with the right support. We thank Ozgun for her dedication as a student.”
The Launch@Salford programme, available to all University of Salford alumni and current students, is currently recruiting for its third cohort, set to commence in the new year.
