Rural startups eligible for £5,000 of support through The Royal Countryside
The Royal Countryside Fund, in partnership with Forest Holidays, is excited to announce the opening of applications for the Rural StartUp Fund, now in its fourth year. This year, a total of £5,000 is available, which can be awarded to either a single winning business or divided among several rural startups.
Established in 2010 by His Majesty King Charles III (then The Prince of Wales), The Royal Countryside Fund focuses on supporting small family farms and fostering sustainable rural communities and economies.
Keith Halstead, Executive Director of The Royal Countryside Fund, stated: “Since 2019, Forest Holidays and the RCF have collaborated to offer the Rural Startup Fund, providing a vital financial boost to rural businesses at the start of their journey. This fund is a reflection of our shared dedication to encouraging innovation and livelihoods in rural areas.”
Caroline Dawson, a previous winner from SUP Lass Paddle Adventures, shared her experience: “With support from the Royal Countryside Fund and Forest Holidays, we were able to invest in new paddle adventure gear and advanced technology for capturing our clients' experiences. The grant also facilitated essential business mentoring, including an invaluable mentoring and networking day at Forest Holidays in Delamere Forest. This funding has been instrumental in elevating our business and enhancing our market presence.”
Gemma Chance, Head of Brand Purpose at Forest Holidays, commented: “Forest Holidays is thrilled to once again back Britain's rural startups. We take pride in watching the winners develop their brands, grow their businesses, and contribute to their communities. By extending this support, we aim to help entrepreneurs and startups navigate early challenges and grow their businesses locally.”
Applicants must be over 18 and embarking on a rural business venture. They need to demonstrate how their business will support rural communities, promote countryside conservation, or enhance rural sustainability.
