REHAUS launches consumer seller platform with £500K pre-seed investment

REHAUS says the luxury resale second-hand market is growing rapidly with $16.6bn of second-hand furniture expected to be resold by 2025, a 70% increase since 2018. Concerns regarding the environmental impact of fast furniture are increasingly driving consumer buying decisions and sustainability is a key motivation. Savvy consumers are interested in furniture that will hold or increase in value, and the pieces held by REHAUS are considered a safe investment.

REHAUS was founded by interiors and design specialist Daphne Vassiliades, marketplace entrepreneur Tom Allason and ecommerce veteran Will Cochrane. Co-Founder, Daphne Vassiliades said: “We have opened the doors to a highly valuable segment of the pre-owned furniture market and done this by making all aspects of buying and selling easy. Sellers value their designer items wanting them collected, looked after and sold for a good price with minimal cost and hassle, whilst buyers want authentic, quality pieces delivered when they want them.  Until now this was not possible.”

REHAUS has seen a 900% year-on-year growth with many clients reselling for the first time on the platform, and 18% of clients are already repeat customers. By applying the insights learnt in building managed marketplaces, the REHAUS team has created a model that overcomes the challenges, and is determined to make pre-owned designer furniture accessible to all.
