New APP- Beam uses breakthrough technology to improve mental, physical and financial health
UK start-up, Beam, has released a Machine Learning-powered app that alleviates stress and builds resilience through improved self-knowledge, emotional clarity, and practical support
According to the World Health organisation “stress” is the health epidemic of the 21st century with over 1 billion people worldwide living with stress-related issues, yet, relatively few have access to effective, affordable help. This has resulted in the worldwide wellness market being worth $4.9 trillion in 2019 and projected to grow to $7 trillion by 2025 according to the Global Wellness Institute.
Beam has identified a gap in this market, it works by securely syncing data from services that subscribers use everyday across health, money, lifestyle and screen time. Analysis is via proprietary behavioural analytics, alongside machine learning technology which gathers this data and then pinpoints and predicts the user’s specific emotional triggers and behavioural patterns linking them to hyper-personalised, science - based and actionable support, in real-time. Beam is easy-to-use and takes the guesswork out of managing mental, physical, and financial wellbeing by enabling individuals to discover the “stories in their data” and gain insights into their behavioural patterns.
The app analyses over 250 behavioural and emotional indicators across everything from fitness to sleep trackers, screen time and social media habits as well as spending habits - from coffee and fast food to utilities, or their mortgage. Users who have tested the app have found an average 23 per cent improvement in their ‘feelings’, a 38 per cent reduction in their stress levels, and an 18 per cent improvement in their financial health over a four-week period.
Beam is targeting both B2B and B2C subscribers in the UK with a focus on 18 – 35 year-old ‘Social & Digital Natives’ via subscriptions models. Its competitive advantages versus existing market offerings lies in its combination of holistic analysis underpinned by financial insight and unique Behavioural Analytics and ML tech. Beam is growing fast with B2B partnerships signed across the finance, hospitality, communications, education and property sectors.
This announcement comes after three years of research, development and testing.
Beam has been founder-funded to date and will now launch its first funding round to develop the app further to put in place a full-time team, optimise its tech infrastructure and drive subscriptions through precision marketing.
“We are thrilled to announce the release of Beam in the app stores,” said CEO and Founder, Peter Magnani. “Given the increasing uncertainties of everyday living, particularly amongst Gen Z and Millennials, there is a clear need for a self-management tool to help all of us track and improve our physical, mental and financial health. As our consumer and company user-base grows, we will continue to optimise the Beam experience for users.”
