Humm Care was founded by Carina Kohli in June 2022. At the peak of the pandemic in March 2020, Carina interviewed 300+ parents and 30+ experts to understand the healthcare market in India. With new insights, she launched a content and community web app called Baby Space which users could access doctor-verified information and interact with other people experiencing similar healthcare concerns. Baby Space grew to a community of 16,000, and the insights learned from engaging with parents in the community and conducting a survey and focus group discussions with 640+ parents, encouraged Carina to pivot and build HUMM.
The pandemic brought on a change in consumer behaviour and opened minds to adapt to change. Consumers are now more interested in convenience and are more open try new alternatives. Consumers are also now more open to digital healthcare, as a more cost-effective and convenient option wherever possible. There’s a new movement towards health, wellness and adopting healthier lifestyle choices. Consumers are looking for a more hands on and guided approach to learning about their health and options. In a recent survey, it was found that 58% of women in India quit the workforce in the last 2 years due to an increase in family responsibilities. 41% said lack of support was the main reason behind their resignation.
The aim of HUMM is to provide comprehensive, affordable, and high-quality healthcare whilst educating and overcoming the stigma through one’s family building journey, around certain topics in women’s health, mental health, breastfeeding, intimacy and relationships, fatherhood, and working parents managing their family life and careers. Humm Care was launched in June 2022 and is available on the Appstore and Playstore.
