Edtech startup Twin Science & Robotics Secures £1.25M for global STEM education expansion
Twin Science & Robotics, a UK-based edtech startup, has secured £1.25 million in a funding round led by Soulmates Ventures, with participation from APY Ventures, existing backers, and notable angel investors. This new investment will fuel the company’s global growth, with a particular focus on expanding its presence in the US.
Founded in 2017, Twin Science & Robotics has brought STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) education to over 1.5 million students in 4,000 primary schools across 40 countries. The £1.25 million raised will enable the startup to enter new international markets and reinforce its footprint in existing regions. Soulmates Ventures, known for its focus on STEM and sustainability, spearheaded the investment, sharing Twin’s commitment to expanding access to innovative educational solutions worldwide.
“Our mission has always been to bridge the gap between technology and education, ensuring that every child, regardless of background, has access to quality STEM education,” said Asude Altintas Guray, Co-Founder and CEO of Twin Science & Robotics. “This investment marks a significant milestone in our journey, allowing us to scale our impact globally and continue developing AI tools that empower both educators and students,” adds Guray.
The investment will be primarily directed towards enhancing the company's pioneering "Double-Winged Education" approach, integrating cutting-edge technology with United Nations Sustainable Development Goals. This approach adeptly combines physical kits such as the Robotic Art Kit, Robotics & Coding Kit, and STEM for Sustainability Kit, as well as gamified digital applications and ready-made lesson plans, helping teachers teach these subjects both more effectively and engagingly.
“STEM education in practice means that students are not just passive recipients of information; they actively engage in projects that link theory to real-world problems. This approach allows them to acquire technical knowledge while also understanding the broader context and developing various skills,” explains Hynek Sochor, Founder and Managing Partner of Soulmates Ventures.
He continues, “The Twin Science & Robotics startup can integrate STEM into school curricula and inspire a new generation of teachers towards a responsible and innovative approach to education.”
Twin Science & Robotics collaborates with renowned institutions like UCL (University College London) and Imperial College to ensure its products stay at the cutting edge of educational innovation. This approach equips students with the skills they need for emerging careers in the green economy, while fostering their development as responsible global citizens. With a mission of providing "accessible education for all children worldwide," Twin Science & Robotics has built strategic partnerships with global giants such as Intel, Rolls-Royce, Google, and Ford. The company’s impressive financial performance, marked by consistent positive EBITDA, 100% year-on-year growth, and a projected turnover of £4.1 million this year, underscores its strong market potential.
Through a collaboration with YGA, an NGO committed to delivering science education to disadvantaged children, Twin’s STEM products are reaching schools in need, especially in Turkey's earthquake-hit regions. Their vision is to blend technology with humanity, making STEM education more engaging, impactful, and accessible to students globally, while paving the way for a brighter future for all.
