École Polytechnique’s incubator launches X-UP to support deeptech entrepreneurs

The incubator at École Polytechnique has introduced its novel X-UP programme tailored for deeptech startups, emphasising support for responsible and innovative technologies aimed at a sustainable future.

This comprehensive programme is designed to assist entrepreneurs at each step of their journey, offering customised support through the Drahi-X Novation Center, which leverages the institution's distinguished excellence for the benefit of deeptech entrepreneurs. Having backed over 120 startups since its inception and experiencing notable growth in 2023, the incubator now unveils its revamped services with the X-UP programme, which features three tailored offerings to cater to the diverse needs of startups at different stages of development.

The X-UP programme aims to elevate the support for entrepreneurs who are dedicated to crafting technologies of tomorrow. It is set to assist 50 start-ups working on responsible and sustainable technologies across sectors such as Greentech, HealthTech, Industries of the Future, and EdTech.

  • X-UP Create: This phase is for startups at the launch stage, providing a 10-month intensive programme that includes custom support and specialised workshops to help projects gain their first market traction. Participants will have access to the X-FAB prototyping space, its expert team, and a medical bioengineering laboratory. This programme is structured around three key phases: validating and refining the business idea, achieving "Product Market Fit," and supporting the operational, human, and financial growth necessary for market entry.
  • X-UP Scale: Aimed at startups ready to accelerate, whether they are progressing from X-UP Create or other incubation initiatives. This customised programme focuses on major growth drivers, such as business development, recruitment, product development, and fundraising. Each startup benefits from the guidance of a dedicated team, including a startup manager, an entrepreneur-in-residence, and specialists from the X-UP ecosystem. Options for private offices and further access to the X-FAB space are provided.
  • X-UP Access: This offering targets technology startups and SMEs seeking growth within a vibrant ecosystem. It includes flexible support from experts and potential access to prototyping facilities, serving as a new immersive and hosting programme.

Through these tailored programmes, École Polytechnique’s incubator is set to redefine support for deeptech startups, fostering innovation that aligns with responsible and sustainable development.

"Since the incubator's creation in 2015, we have supported more than 120 startups. To meet the needs of the talented entrepreneurs we welcome and support, we are upgrading our programme and our support capacity. This new offer will enable us to optimise and accelerate the development of tomorrow's high-tech startups. And thanks to the IP3 University Innovation Cluster at Institut Polytechnique de Paris, of which L’X is a founding member, and the new Bourse French Tech Lab, we will also be stepping up our support for researchers with entrepreneurial projects and setting up a genuine innovation continuum," said Bruno Cattan, Director of Entrepreneurship and Innovation at École Polytechnique.
