‘This drink’s on me’ - My Round app says cheers to future with crowdfunding campaign
A new app created to help people buy a drink for someone remotely has launched a crowdfunding campaign to help accelerate the development and scale of the service.
Developed by eDrinks as part of their group of consumer apps reimagining social drinking, MyRound is a free and easy to use mobile app for buying and receiving a drinks round from friends, family, work colleagues or even a stranger.
eDrink vouchers are already redeemable in thousands of pubs, bars and venues across the country but they have plans to scale up as they aim to help the sector get back on its feet after a devastating year.
‘We’re on a mission to help the hospitality industry harness the power of tech and social media,’ explains founder Moshe David.
‘We are now Crowdfunding, to enable us to roll out our 2.0 app which will feature some brilliant new features and make the platform more socially interactive making easier for users to know when it is friends’ birthdays or anniversaries so you can simply tap to buy them a drink and help our pubs and bars at the same time.’
‘This is a chance for pub fans to buy shares in eDrinks for the price of a couple of pints whilst playing their part in our startup mission to support our hospitality industry coming out of lockdown.’
Ben Maunder, of Benjamin Pimlico Pub Co Ltd loves the concept;
“The hospitality industry has been waiting for an app like this, drinks have always been like currency between friends, how many times have you said 'I owe you one'?... eDrinks allows you to uphold that and pay it forward. I see the myRound app being instrumental in the post Covid regeneration of our industry. Brilliant stuff.’
With over 2000 users already, a major partnership announced with Greene King's network of 1700+ pubs across the country and dozens of independent pubs, eDrinks is now raising £100,000 to fund marketing campaigns, app development and hiring.
Joining the board at eDrinks is David Wilson, a very familiar name in the hospitality, beer and pub sector as a consultant to the WSTA and until very recently the director of Public Affairs at the British Beer and Pub Association.
‘I am delighted to join the Board and support the development of eDrinks. Since Moshe introduced me to the concept in 2018 I have been enthusiastic about its potential and I am pleased to be coming on board at this exciting stage of the eDrinks business.‘
At the time of writing (December 14th) they are just over half way to their target with just 9 days to go.
Moshe concluded: "An astonishing 911 million single greeting cards were bought in the UK in the last year. Many via Moonpig and Funky Pigeon. We invite members of the public to help us on our mission to convert even a small fraction of 911 million greeting cards into drinks at the bar and support our Pubs. This is a chance to be part of a brighter future for the drinks industry and our local pubs. Join us and say “cheers to the future!”’
