The US arm of leading defender specialist Twisted, has opened its third site in the US and added a new member to its team, as the company sets its sights on further expansion in the US.

The Twisted USA-LLC Group division of North Yorkshire-based Twisted Automotive, is making waves across the pond, as it opens an additional 100,000 Sq/ft workshop in New Jersey, to accommodate the growing demand for the quintessentially British icon in North America.

Headed up by entrepreneur Tom Maxwell, Twisted USA-LLC Group was launched in April 2020 after securing a seven-figure sponsorship deal to take over the licences for North America, the Middle East and the electric vehicle arms of the business.

It now has sites in Texas and New Jersey and is currently producing 15 vehicles across both US sites, with more being added to the production line each week. Its most popular vehicle is the NA-V8, created specifically for the US market, which retails from $250,000, closely followed by an all-electric version.

Twisted USA-LLC Group remains the only business in the world to have the capability to fulfil orders for an EV version of the Land Rover Defender, through Twisted EV, using all new components.

Twisted USA currently has a team of 47, seven in the UK and 40 in the US. Maxwell’s aim is to increase the number of staff in the US to around 100 and increase output to four cars a month by the end of 2022.

Twisted USA recently appointed a new team member who will operate from the site in New Jersey. Alex Wharton joins as technical manager and will concentrate on technical development, such as improving the product, problem solving and future proofing. Alex was previously an OEM Master Technician and brings significant industry experience in his approach to vehicle construction.
